Obama to take sweeping action on climate
Washington Post ^ | June 22, 2013 | By Juliet Eilperin

President Obama will announce his intention to limit greenhouse gas emissions from existing power plants, increase appliance efficiency standards and promote renewable energy development on public lands in a speech Tuesday outlining his plan to use executive powers to address climate change.

Unlike his other signature second-term initiatives, such as immigration legislation, gun-control measures and entitlement reform, Obama can undertake all of these policies without congressional input. Though Congress could theoretically overturn an Environmental Protection Agency rule to regulate existing utilities under the Clean Air Act, Democrats have the votes they need in the Senate to block such an effort.

Zero care not a wit about climate change. Assuming he actually still believes in it. This is a reach out effort to his base to help them forget the scandal diarrhea out flowing from his wretched administration.

He is simply in campaign mode for 2014.

It will do nothing for climate but it will destroy businesses, raise everybody’s energy prices, and take all of his other scandals off the front page, which is precisely what it’s intended to do.

Forget impeachment: he needs to be arrested and imprisoned before he can do any more damage.

Greenhouse gases and carbon....aren’t pollution. And for the EPA to stand and hint such...they simply will be drawn into court battles. Scientists will state fact, and judges will likely agree. This is a downhill movement from this point on.

I would add something that few ever grasp. If you break the US down into fifty states, with each having a carbon footprint....most of the southern states are equals of Germany or France. California, Conn and a couple of the ‘blue’ states? They add up and make up more than sixty percent of the carbon ‘crime’ region.

If you use their logic....and used the broke-up-US map...then you’d have to talk most Californians into paying three times what they pay for electricity currently....to help ease the carbon mess. Luckily, they never appear on TV and discuss this side of the carbon episode.

Democrats have the votes they need in the Senate to block such an effort.

Toomey led the Senate Gang on gun control, Rubio led the Senate Gang on Immigration, so what Republican Senator is going to lead the Senate Gang on climate change?

Nothing like taking action on a problem that scientifically has not been proven to exist. The temperature on the earth has risen 0.7 degrees since about 1900. In the last 16 years it has not changed at all. No one can explain any of this beyond theories and conjectures.

I just wonder how many trillions of dollars we’re willing to spend as a nation to have no measureable effect on the climate

I can think of no better evidence that Obama is in full panic mode, than the fact that he feels the need to pander to the proponents of anthropogenic warming at a time when statistically NO ONE ELSE believes it to be of importance anymore.

This is a huge political blunder. It makes him look so small, at a time when his foreign policies have revealed him to be lilliputian in the eyes of the rest of the world.

Barack Obama’s power base is unraveling, worse, his vaunted personal mystique is crumbling. He’s becoming one big leg-iron on the Democratic party. Please, let’s not attempt to impeach him, it’s what the donkey party would want us to do for them.

At some point, don’t we simply tell this petulant child, “No”?

This will bring many Democrat-voting states to their knees, but it serves them right for always voting for Big Government.

Either you're correct or this is the arrogant Obama flipping us off while saying, ‘watch me blatantly drive another stake through the heart of America's greatness by pi$$ing away even more money on something everyone knows is garbage.’

He is in such deep doodoo that this is without a doubt just another example of him trying to change the channel and shift focus off of the scandals etc. Even from the Rats perspective, this has to be considered to be a colossal error that does nothing but confirm his ineptness in the eyes of even his rank and file supporters. The tide has shifted on ‘climate change’ and a push in this direction only serves to make it look like Obamao is the only one left in the country who hasn’t figured that out.

"Then defund the epa."

That would be great, but Obama seems to own Boehner who needs to be removed from the Speakership, but the GOP can't or won't do what is necessary.

Unfortunately, this petulant child of a president and the typical liberal voters do not pay attention to evidence. Not only does AGW not exist, climate change is impossible to quantify. The countries that have dove head first into the AGW “battle”, Spain and Germany have done a complete reversal. Spain went broke, and the Germans (who are brilliant as a people) have begun to wise up.
