Russian President Vladimir Putin cautioned the West on Friday against arming Syrian rebel forces, which he said included "terrorist" groups, and warned that a swift exit by President Bashar al-Assad risked creating a dangerous power vacuum.

"If the United States ... recognizes one of the key Syrian opposition organizations, al-Nusra, as terrorist ... how can one deliver arms to those opposition members?" Putin told a panel with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. "Where will they end up? What role will they play?"

The Lessons of Inexperience.

The idiot Carter gave Iran to Islamists, not wanting to support the Shah for PC reasons. The idiot 0bama has given Libya and Egypt to the islamists, and now wants to do the same with Syria. These actions will have consequences long after the pResident is gone. Iran will have a nuclear bomb less than a generation removed from the revolution. The future in the Middle East is not pretty.

One month ago today, the senate foreign relations committee voted to intervene in Syria, on a 15 to 3 vote. 15 republicans and democrats voting to intervene. Those voting no were two antiwar pacifists democrats and 1 rightwing isolationist(Randy Paul).

For a long time now, Obama has said no to intervening in Syria.

But as more and more members of Congress have come out calling loudly to intervene, Obama had no choice but to say yes.

Let me give you a doctrinal detail on this.

NeoCon Republicans, Liberal Interventionist Democrats, Realist Republicans, and Realist Democrats all want to intervene in Syria.

Antiwar pacifist Democrats and Isolationist republicans oppose intervening in Syria.

And let me tell you something else.

The NSA issue breaks out along the same doctrinal lines.

The NeoCons(R), Liberal Interventionists(D), and Realists(R&D) support NSA's eavesdropping activity while the pacifists(D) and isolationists(R) oppose.

Don’t forget that both Clinton and W Bush have also given aid to the Muslims in the Balkans and Middle East, while tacitly encouraging the extermination of millions of Christians.

Do you realize that Coptic Christians - the ones who are not dead by weapons donated from the US - are fleeing the Middle East and going where? Russia. Why? Because Russia has far more tolerance and acceptance of Christianity than the US.

You are correct.

I think the difference is that Carter, stupid as he was, did what he did out of liberal ignorance....the current occupant is AWARE of what is happening, and is looking to exacerbate the decline of this nation.

Our enemy Vlad Putin gave all-in unfettered support to our enemy the Assad dictatorship, which has, so far, killed 93,000 Syrians.

Ask him to know for suire, he’ll lie and say he isn’t, but the neosoviet dictator has his semi-evil empire working against the US wherever he can, such as selling machine gun factories and advanced fighters to the Venezuelan dictatorship.

“Our enemy Vlad Putin gave all-in unfettered support to our enemy the Assad dictatorship, which has, so far, killed 93,000 Syrians.”

the 93,000 number represents ALL Syrians - it includes civilians who became collateral casualties without identification of nunbers killed by “rebels” vs numbers killed by Syrian military, and it includes soldiers of the Syrian army which are actually the largest component of the 93,000 who have died.

it takes more than one side to create a “civil war”, to put it all on Assad’s shoulders is to say he should have just turned the country over to the Sunni Islamist putsch that was organized against him from outside Syria;

he’s not a good guy; the Islamists that want his seat of power are worse
