Why is it significant to appoint “LGBT” peoples to these positions, as opposed to finding the best qualified people to fill them????

This is what I was thinking even if they are or are not gay just appoint the best qualified. This should go for any position. I have been seeing commercials to hire vets and I think that is great as long as the individual can do the job
