Intelligence officials said Tuesday that the governments sweeping surveillance efforts have helped thwart potential terrorist events more than 50 times since the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, and the officials detailed two new examples to illustrate the utility of the programs.
In testimony before the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday, officials cited a nascent plot to blow up the New York Stock Exchange and a case involving an individual providing financial support to an overseas terrorist group.

On the day after 9-11, we all pretty agreed that we had loose some of our rights...to regain our safety. We may slip back to the original starting point one day....but 9-11 will repeat itself, and we will move right back to lesser rights in the end. Fear of safety is a bigger deal, than fear of lost rights.
I thought according to dems and liberals potential doesn’t matter. Isn’t that what they always say on abortion?
But now stopping something months before it actually occurs or while it’s in the planning stages does count.

We know that the Bush administration thwarted plots on LAX, the Brooklyn Bridge, and Heathrow Airport.
Name specifics or this carries less weight than the liberal despised “McCarthy’s list of known Communists”.

Good old fashioned police work and profiling would capture all the terrorists. We already know where to look and who to look for. We just need some national cajones.

It took them “weeks after the fact” to discover that the 9-11-2012 terrorist attacks on the Libyan embassy were planned.
I doubt that they are getting plots uncovered simply by connecting phone numbers together (without the content or names).
