The Mideast: The president opposed arming the Syrian rebels last year on the grounds the arms could find their way into Islamist hands. This year he's changed his mind but the rebels haven't changed their Islamist spots.
One would have thought that the decision to intervene in the Syrian civil war, a conflict in which the U.S. has no clear strategic interest, would have been announced by President Obama, sans golf garb, sitting behind his desk in the Oval Office, and not by Ben Rhodes, the White House deputy national security adviser for strategic communications.
One would also have thought that, when the decision to aid the Syrian "rebels" was made, some thought would have been given to whom we would be aiding.
Last year, the Wall Street Journal has reported, Obama blocked a proposal backed by Central Intelligence Agency Director David Petraeus and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to arm the rebels, voicing concerns that arms could end up in the hands of Islamists battling Mr. Assad.
The Obama administration's announcement Thursday that it would send more military aid to the rebel Supreme Military Council is another attempt to pick winners and losers, this time in a conflict over which we have no control and little influence and in which other major players have quite different desired outcomes.
In a revealing chart and article published by the Economist magazine, two of the three major fronts the Syrian Islamic Front and the Syrian Liberation Front are Islamist, as are 10 of the 12 identified rebel groups.
The only major secular entity on the chart is Gen. Salim Idriss' Supreme Military Command.

Only in Barrys World does this make any sense..but from Juan Mclame to others I see only support and very little blowback from arming the guys who KILLED 3000 of us only 12 years ago
In a real world...we would call this insanity
but none so far.....
and so many things could go wrong
This is a continuance of what 0bama was doing in Benghazi.. Arming terrorists. They thanked us by killing us in Benghazi, now 0bama is thanking them for killing Americans by hiring them! What a clusterf*ck and a dishonor to Stevens, Smith, Doherty and Woods. 0bama is a traitor on so many levels it’s a miracle America is still intact (yes, barely).
"My fellow Citizens, 12 years from now we will be arming the very terrorist organization that flew the planes into these towers."
Dear NSA, please forward the following comment to President Obama:
Barak Obama, you are an embarrassment and an idiot.

People should not be surprised that a Sunni Moslem allies with a Sunni Jihadist force. Islam is all about Jihad. Everything else comes after the conquest.
America wanted a black President. We got one.
Be careful what you wish for.
Every military family, in my opinion, should be raising HELL right now along with We The People!!!

Yes, to most of us he’s an embarassment, an idiot and even a traitor.
But to his masters on the other end of the BlackBerry, he’s a good and faithful servant.

The failure of Congress to address the Executive’s treasonous arming of an enemy is complicity.
You would not want him to be a total wuss now, would you.
The failure of Congress to address the infiltration of the Muslim BH at top levels of our governmnet is complicity also.
Amman/London: Russian President Vladimir Putin, arriving in Britain ahead of an international summit set to be dominated by disagreement over the US decision to send weapons to Syria’s rebels, said the West must not arm fighters who eat human flesh.
“One does not really need to support the people who not only kill their enemies, but open up their bodies, eat their intestines in front of the public and cameras,” Mr Putin said.
Just wait til the hand held rockets knock US planes out of the sky, and the neat explosives take down bridges and power poles in the USA. Then Obama’s Jihad will be complete.
