Thanks.

Back then we actually made things.

BRING BACK AMERICAN MANUFACTURING. Now.

What is happening now, is we sell our factories to China for a 49% ownership. So Chinese workers make stuff which we then buy, and 49% of the profits go to the uppity-ups at the company which owns the 49% of the factory which they received from laying off the entire American factory and selling the ownership to China.

51% of the ownership and all of the labor goes - to China.

As in, the Peoples Republic of China.

Now the largest exporter on the planet.

Let me repeat that for emphasis: China is now the largest exporter anywhere.

We need to bring back American production, and stop selling out our future to China.

...on the right path in 1933.

Exactly, a path that led here.  We've come a long way since the days of a 100K man army and 25% unemployment.  Sure, we want things better but nobody in his right mind wants to return to life in the dirty thirties.

“Soooooo if the the factory automates and eliminates the need for 90% of the labor, then that would be great...”

Of course, look at agriculture. Would you prefer to go back to the ‘good old days’ of hand plows and scythes for a bucket of grain and bag of salt? You know, ‘an honest day’s wages for an honest day’s work?

Actually, that's present day life for the Chinese workforce.  They've got half their workers scratching for food out of the ground like we did a hundred years ago.  Now we've got about one percent working on farms that not only feeds all of us but also enough extra to export $17,250,000 ,000 worth of food to China every year.

Tariffs on imports.

Even oil?

You sell your factories to China? Bad idea. You should stop, they're untrustworthy.

I'd trust an inbred protectionist before I'd trust the Commie Chinese.

I agree 100%.

What we need however, is a structure which does not tilt toward American owners, selling out to the Chinese government.

That is the way things are now, and it is destroying American industry.

We need some sort of incentive for (all) American owners, to keep their factories in America.

Stop selling out our future.

I think cutting the corporate tax rate to 15% is a good start. Also, sunsetting regulations and enacting tort reform.

And taxing whiny big-government conservatives.

Well, yeah, tariffs on US oil would be as dumb as tariffs on foreign oil.

Finish that econ class yet?

Years ago, that's why I laughed at your silly idea that raising the cost of foreign oil leaves the price of US oil unchanged.

Reminds me of something a liberal Dem would say.

bump!

automation makes it possible and good economics to make Kia’s and Toyota’s in America again.

Japan Inc stalled when they became a first world country, looks like South Korea is having similar headaches. It would take a very long time but when China gets there it’ll be epic.

CNN has stated many times that any monies raised by tariffs would reduce income taxes by an equal amount. But guys like you believe in the income tax, love it. So taxing imported oil makes total sense. I am not for it for I don’t considered oil a “manufactured” good. It is a mineral and nobody has control on where it is on the planet. Unlike labor which is totally different resource.

Well, if CNN said it, it must be true. LOL!

Now you know why I think you're a moron.

Almost as funny.

CNN has also stated, many times, that doubling the cost of imported oil would leave the price of American oil unchanged. You believe that too?
