AFP - Saudi Arabia plans to supply the Syrian opposition with anti-aircraft missiles to counter President Bashar al-Assad's air force, German news weekly Der Spiegel reported Sunday.
The article, citing a classified report received by the German foreign intelligence service and the German government last week, said Riyadh was looking at sending European-made Mistral-class MANPADS, or man-portable air-defence systems.
Der Spiegel noted the shoulder-launched surface-to-air missiles can target low-flying aircraft including helicopters and had given mujahideen fighters in Afghanistan a decisive edge against Soviet troops in the 1980s.
Saudi Arabia is a key supporter of the Syrian rebels and has long advocated providing them with better weaponry. . .

The witch lashing oil pigs want weapons for Wahhabis
Arm them yourselves pigs! You can afford it!
Makes sense, they fund all the other Islamic terror groups..
Where did Saudi Arabia get the missiles?
I wonder where the Saudis get their missiles from. Could it be the USA?
How long before our planes are getting shot down by Assad’s forces with Russian advisors?
It’s a nifty scenario....Assad with Russian, Iranian, and Jihad advisers, and the Syrian rebels with American advisers. You can just sense some mess about to happen, which Mr Clean doesn’t clean up this kind of mess.
From the article, they’re looking at the Mistral system. It’s probably better than the Grail, but maybe not as good as the Stinger or Igla. Nevertheless, a very dangerous weapon, considering the elements among the ‘rebels.’
Can you say Benghazi anyone ? The House of Saud is now going to provide cover for the US government illegally running highly sophisticated weapon systems through Benghazi to Al Qeada linked terrorists.
Our planes are just as likely to get shot down by the rebel forces. They have Al Qeada amongst them and they want the WMD components intact.
Will need a lot of Pine-Sol to cover the smell from that mess
[I wonder where the Saudis get their missiles from. Could it be the USA?]
Turkey manufactures Stingers under license with the U.S. The Saudis have enough money to buy just about anything.
Found this from same outfit:
The main thing is to get the best missiles available to the “freedom fighters” in Syria. /sarc
Dang. Hope the Mexican drug cartel does not see that video.
Probably not Hezbollah (Iranian-backed, Shiite). On the other hand, Al-Qaeda is Sunni, as are the Saudis, and most Muslims in Kenya and Indonesia. So Obama’s decision to help Al-Qaeda in Syria and elsewhere is consistent with his bowing to the Saudi king.
hey Saudis, y’all are freakazoids, get lost, take a long walk off a short pier
We laugh now. But this will end up being a full regional war like the World hasn’t seen for 40 to 45 years in the Near east. I predict sometime mid 2014 it’ll be on. The US - we arm both sides usually - gotta look behind the curtain and far enough this has been the case. Only this time there is a little thing like Abraham’s blessing or cursing that we’ll be judged according to.
The Saudis are the folks ruling Obama.
Well what ever his masters want they’ll receive.
Obammy will give bend over and kiss the GODless Saudi dogs ass.
There, fixed it for you.
Anti-Aircraft Missiles for Al Qaeda.
What could possibly go wrong?
On another thread re: what the zero was going to do about Syria I was going to post, it’s up to the Saudi’s. So I’ll say it here. He will only do what the Saudi’s want.

Why have you placed ‘Jihad advisers’ on Assad’s side?
