Well, geeze, he should have gone to San Antonio and sung the National anthem in a mariachi outfit. he’d have everyone mugging for his case there.

But...but...if his shirt had obscenities emblazoned on it, that would have been within his First Amendment Rights and the ACLU would be all over the case in his defense...

Title should be: “Person attempting to obstruct rights of 14yr old facing one year in jail”

Another disgrace from the Nation’s Toilet, West Virginia. Went to Morgantown once (it’s the HQ for NIOSH courtesy of their “lifetime Senator, Byrd). If there ever was a wasteland, it would be Morgantown. WVA, just another state where decent people are leaving.

The Logan County Police Department initially claimed that the at-the-time 8th grade Logan Middle School student was arrested for disturbing the education process, obstructing an officer and Lardieri says that officers even went as far as threatening to charge Jared with making terroristic threats.

"Arrested for disturbing the educational process"?

You mean the process by which kids are indoctrinated to conform to commie-think?

How dare he disturb the Process!

They send 14-yr olds to jail? I would think he would go to juvenile detention?

This is insane ... would he have been treated the same if his shirt had read ‘NAMBLA’ ? I’ll answer my own question ... NO ... he would have received a congradulatory phone call from the Commander in Chief.

If I was this boy's dad, and they didn't drop ALL charges, EXPUNGE the arrest, APOLOGIZE, and pay DAMAGES for the inconvenience, I would be on a mission.

I will not state what that mission would be.

This is another case of a cop with an ego who is pissed off because someone wasn’t afraid of him. There’s at least one of these stories a week about a minor case that got out of hand and if you look closely at all of them it usually boils down to a cop trying to save face when he/she is shown to be ignorant of the law, or is flat out exceeding his authority.

He could have said that NRA stood for “Not Really America” not the gun organization. That would have made him a Liberal hero.

How does charging the teacher and the arresting officers with denial of civil rights under the color of law sound?

That is the only thing that is going to stop this liberal intrusion on civil rights.

A cop would need to press this charge. I hate cops for this type of crap.

As I recall, the Miranda warnings say that you have a right to remain silent; not that you have an obligation to remain silent. The officer is claiming that because the student would not be quiet, that interfered with his job? It sounds like they know they screwed up, and now are looking for any charge they can make stick, just to save face.

claims that when Jared refused to stop talking during the arrest and that hindered his ability to do his job, hence, the obstruction charge

WOW. Is the officer that incompetent? As a former LEO I would not want to be on the same force as this wuss........

We obtained official court documents from both sides of this case. On one hand, the arresting officer from the Logan City Police Department, James Adkins, claims that when Jared refused to stop talking, that hindered his ability to do his job, hence, the obstruction charge. On the other side, Ben White points out that nowhere in the arresting officer's petition, does it mention Jared ever making any threats or acting in a violent manner.

Apparently, peasants aren't allowed to interrupt the King's Men anymore...
