Parishioners from St. Andrew Catholic Church, which has a longstanding commitment to social justice issues, will march in Sunday's Portland Pride Parade with a banner proclaiming their parish identity, despite the wishes of Archbishop Alexander K. Sample. At least four Catholic parishes are expected to participate in the parade, . . . . .

Excommunication is warranted here. Chance for the Pope to put his authority where his mouth is.
Sounds like a rogue church. Excommunicate the whole lot of them.
The smoke of Satan entered the Vatican-—and got in places of power with Vatican II. Pope Pius X warned of this in his 1907 encyclical “Pascendi”.
Bella Dodd writes about hundreds of Marxist homosexuals who infiltrated the Catholic Church in the 30’s and 40’s===to collapse the Catholic Church. (to rape and blackmail seminarians and rape boys to discredit the Church) and instill Marxist policies/altar girls/social justice.emasculate the Church—which is antithetical to the Catholic Canon.
Fr. Oko writes about the war with these Satanists who are inside the Vatican-—they have to be expunged. A lot of the US Catholic Bishops are part of this homosexual cabal—and they must be excommunicated—and they will unless the wrong side seized total control. We will see.........waiting............

Social justice?
How about saving souls by leading the lost to Christ? Surely St. Andrews knows that multitudes are only a heartbeat away from eternal separation from God - and it won’t be pleasant.
Justice will be served in due time by the only One who can rightly judge.
“why would they excommunicated for just marching in parade supporting homosexuals?”
According to the article they were allowed to march as individuals but were specifically told not to march as a parish and not to represent that they speak for Catholics in general.
Priests take a vow of obediance. If they do march as a parish it is deliberate disobediance. And it is dishonest. They pretend they represent the Catholic Church.
I would definitely fire the priest who deliberately disobeyed. I would defund the parish.
Misleading headline just to get attention. They make it sound like the parish is sponsoring this by carrying a banner then the story says PARISHONERS from the parish are carrying a banner.
I hope their pastor related them not to come back until they’ve repented.
The Bishop needs to do it. If he doesn’t have the spine, the the Pope needs to tell him to grow one.
Wow ... nevermind my previous post. What a sad state of affairs in the Church up there. Definitely not in full communion with the RCC.
Western civilization hasn’t been the same ever since they did away with the rack.
Definitely not The Church.

The pope is not the person who must act. This is the responsibility of the local bishop. If nothing happens then it is because he chooses not to. But the bishops are terrified of schism, for the Church is divided with the divisions thinly papered over,
The Gay Lobby in the Catholic Church, this isn’t the gay tolerance parade, it is the gay pride parade

Parishioners from St. Andrew Catholic Church, which has a longstanding commitment to social justice issues, will march
At least four Catholic parishes are expected to participate in the parade, according to the Rev. Tara Wilkins, executive director of the Community of Welcoming Congregations. Members of St. Francis of Assisi, St. Philip Neri and St. André Bessette (the Downtown Chapel) also are expected to march.
Monsignor Dennis O'Donovan, vicar general of the Archdiocese of Portland, called St. Andrew's pastor, the Rev. Dave Zegar, on May 31 on behalf of Sample, parishioners say. O'Donovan relayed the message that individuals could walk in the parade but that the archbishop did not want St. Andrew's members to walk as a community.
The Rev. Steve Newton, a Holy Cross priest who is pastor of St. André Bessette, said no one from the archdiocese had called him about the parade. Parishioners from the Downtown Chapel have walked in the parade for years.
The official teaching of the Catholic Church is that homosexual acts are contrary to natural law and incompatible with living a Christian life. But 2006 pastoral guidelines from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops say the church must welcome homosexuals to full and active participation in the faith. St. Andrew's bulletin insert quoted the document.

“...allowed to march as individuals”? That sounds like weasel words.
