WASHINGTON — The Obama administration has concluded that Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime has used chemical weapons against the opposition seeking to overthrow him, U.S. officials said Thursday, crossing what President Barack Obama has called a ‘red line’ that would trigger greater American involvement in the crisis.

You know what he is going to do. He was looking for an excuse to arm the rebels. I’ll even bet that he really has no idea who used the chemical weapons.

i’d wait and see, more than likely, this would be the excuse used to aid the other side.

That’s the first thing I thought. After years of denying Sadam’s chemical weapon’s stash was moved to Syria, Bammy’s shocked, SHOCKED I tell ya’, that the Syrians are using chemical weapons.

This Marine mom says let the mid-east sort itself out. Even if there was a way to distinguish the good guys from the bad guys over there, this country will not support it’s military in the effort.

What I cannot understand is why we would even want to get involved in Syria?

We cannot support Assad.

The rebels are Al Qaeda.

Let the Muslims sort it out.

Since 1991, every military adventure we have engaged in is to support Muslims. I am done with that.

There is another possibility: We shipped them from Benghazi through Turkey to set up a false flag operations carried out by the rebels in order to blame Assad. Assad has long known that the EU and the US has just been looking for the excuse of WMD use in order to intervene, so why would he give them the rationale on a sliver platter?

If they came from Libya, then Qaddafi got them from Saddam! I think it is common knowledge that Syria did have these kinds of weapons long before the Benghazi thing happened. I see no "win-win" for Obama for conniving such an operation. He sure backtracked on the "red-line" with Syria which, I think, gave Assad the idea that Obama was too much of a coward to do what he threatened to do at the start. He figured the LAST thing Obama would want is to get involved in ANOTHER mid-east war now that we were technically out of Iraq and soon from Afghanistan.

Wonder if the Saudis and Egypt will ever use the arms we sell them for something other than attacking Israel. Call up the Turks too, they've got overwhelming force to put Assad to bed, and a base of operations in Turkey. Don't need us, don't even need the Euros.

I am sick and tired of the rest of the Arab world sitting idly by while the West invests its own money and blood for doing what is right by the innocent civilians there in the Arab countries. Why can't we for once LET them rule themselves. Why does America have to be the one the world cries to to settle the wars of these countries? Doesn't Saudi Arabia care about Muslims in Syria? Doesn't Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Dubai, Kuwait, etc.? We can send medical help and food aid, but getting into military aid is asking for yet another mideast war. That MAY be exactly what Islamists really want so they can continue to bleed us dry.

I don’t understand what you mean? Yes Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Dubai, and Kuwait, have all sent Jihadis to fight for Al Queda in Syria and now our government is trying to arm them.

I mean that we should have learned by now that we cannot "fix" the Mideast. Every time we have tried, we have been bitten. The last seemingly good move was to get Iraq out of Kuwait, but even that came back to bite us. We don't "need" their oil anymore so whatever our strategic interests are over there, we should not allow ourselves to be dragged into yet another endless war where NO side is any better than the other and especially not where the ones that want our support would gladly turn our own weapons against us the first chance they had. The ONLY exception, I believe, is Israel. If they are threatened, then we have an obligation to come to their aid - they are the only dependable ally we have over there and look who they are surrounded by.

I hear that! It’s a shame that people in 2013 still live like it’s the stone age.

Bingo....

Hardly a peep from this board about the UN finding the “rebels” actually had these chemical munitions. You know, the guys we are supporting, and now our side says Assad is using them? I don’t believe anyone who works for FEDUS regarding these proxy wars.

Syria is none of our concern. The only reason Israel is beating their chest is because this civil war impedes their plans on becoming the regions main exporter of natural gas.

Obama is about to crap himself wanting to get in on this.

Has the UN announced that Obama is King of the World? Prince of Peace? The One We have Awaited? A deluded charlatan?

Is there anybody corroborating our claim that they used chemical weapons?

If we arm the rebels and Russia arms the Syrian state, this could turn into a nightmare for Israel.

There is nothing America can do right in Syria. Nor will our efforts be appreciated. There is no morally correct side to fight for, nor interest for us to protect.

It certainly is not worth the blood and sanity of our troops.
