WASHINGTON A White House official says Tom Donilon is resigning as President Barack Obamas national security adviser and will be replaced by Susan Rice.
Rice is currently the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. She has been harshly criticized by Republicans for her initial accounting of the attacks on a U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya, which later proved to be incorrect.

“She gets promoted”
That’s what I call the obama “doubledown”. Think about it, everytime there are complaints about him or his people or what they do he does something like this to make it even more painful, just to stick it to us and dare anybody to do anything about it. Welcome to the (D)istrict of (C)hicago..
Rewarded for following orders.
I think it’s more telling that the rats are abandoning the ship while they can.
As with the IRS, we need to take it all the way to the top and find out who is giving out the orders.
sleep well tonight
America is in good hands with the vapid Susan Rice advising the vapid barry obama on national security isses, while Valerie Jarrett takes notes
especially given Rice’s track record at the UN sarc
and her long history of being right, being honest and being informed by the other branches of govt sarc
US military- get ready to get your butts sent to ever more african hellholes, our newest overriding strategic interest
Quintessential jug-eared moron... “in your face”, overt, middle finger to America, arrogance. Other than the innate ability to lie, what possible experience could this POS have to be a national security advisor?
Susan Rice is not qualified to sweep the floors of the White House, let along be a “National Security Advisor”.
But that would take some initiative from Speaker John Boehner and that is certainly to exalt hope over experience.
Looks to me like a guilty rat abandoned ship and 0’s pool of trusted cronies is down to a few drips!
National Security Advisor will work out fine as long as facts are not important.
Tom Donilon can read the “BLOODY HANDPRINTS” on the wall regarding Benghazi.......he;s up to his DEMOCRAT NECK in this scandal also. DON”T LET HIM ESCAPE QUESTIONING, Republican Congressmen.
Mr. Obama also plans to nominate Samantha Power, a National Security Council official, as Ms. Rices replacement at the United Nations on Wednesday.
This is what America wanted, this is what they voted for.
The Marion Barry President appointing his cronies to high positions. Corruption and Cronies.
We is in charge now.
Well, she will do her very best to keep muzzies safe.
I don’t think it makes that much difference.
Suppose by some great good luck, we got John Bolton in that office.
Do you think that obumbler would listen to one word of his advice?
What we must do is find a way to zero out the power of zero so that no matter how many Marxists, crazies or what ever he surrounds himself with, it makes no difference.
One way that interests me is to put Durbin in jail for his part in the IRS interference in the election process for the senator from IL.
That would be a step in the right direction in getting socialists out of the senate.
Very glad to see him gone. He is a sonuvabitch. ..though his replacement may be worse.
He really IS running out and reusing the dots whether they are appropriate for the position OR not!!
Shouldn’t she be in prison with the rest of them?
One thing i can get Obie credit for. The reason for this promotion is quite transparent.
Planning on traveling out of the country with his wife’s “new job”
Certainly don’t want to be a passenger in their plane!
Yep, circling the wagons with Mrs. Sunstein.
Hmm ... not believing the spin but clearly the knives were out.
Last fall, as the administration prepared to find a new secretary of state to replace Hillary Clinton, I began a magazine story that was in part about Donilon and in part about the fact that, over the past decades, the roles of secretary of state and national security advisor have changed: Secretaries of state have taken on an ever more public role, while national security advisors have taken on ever greater control over the internal gears of the American foreign-policy machine.
The project was abandoned because, before it could be published, Obama had won the election and appointed John Kerry as his next secretary of state. There was, however, an unusual aftermath. Word had apparently spread through the administration that a story was being written about Donilon. Over the course of several months, a series of present and former officials approached me to ask when an article about Donilon’s power would appear and to urge that it be pursued.
“There’s a problem there, and it hasn’t been told,” said one current official of Donilon. In another instance, an official I had never met introduced himself and asked what had happened to the article about Donilon. One source said the National Security staff was “a snake pit.”
Donilon’s detractors, none of whom would speak on the record, are either now serving or have served in a variety of different institutions: at the State Department, the Pentagon, and in the White House. None of the sources are themselves in line for the national security position, and none appeared to have anything to gain if Donilon were to step aside.
Is this a joke or is this administration trying to push the limits of credibility to prove that no matter how outrageous their announcements are, the media will push the agenda and the public will be clueless.. Shameless.
Thanks for the pings the past week while I was away! Trying to catch up now and appreciate being kept in loop. It is time for folks to go to jail!
Donilon may have been unwilling to crawl underdabus ! Hope he gets called before congress sooner rather then later. No EP for him now! Is that an ooopie for 0?
Things must be turning as virtually all of the comments (1,000 + comments) on the yahoo (known for having a lot of liberal users) article are against the appointment of Rice.
Tommy obviously senses this scandal-ridden administration will develop a stench that lasts quite a while and he wants to work again. Look for a few others to do the same once they’ve located a new job.
As the WORM turns!
Doesn’t that post require Senate confirmation?
I’d sure love a reason to focus on the Benghazi debacle again.
Paranoia and mental illness are taking over at 1600. This is not a good sign.
It is also a diversion to shift attention away from the scandals.
The position is an in-house position that serves only the president and does not require senate confirmation.
Just what are her qualifications for this posting? Just an in your face move here, nothing more.
Two questions, neither of which was answered in the article:
1. What’s next for Donilon?
2. Why did he resign?
Abandoning or “fired”? aka: “You can resign or be fired”.
Unstated....... why is he resigning?
Wow! Susan Rice is about as qualified to give the President competent National Security advice as she would be to give Ben Carson advice on pediatric brain surgery. Perhaps even less so.
Think of this change with the protection 0 can get by using Executive Priveledge
He either feels like all of the scandals have exposed him and he now has nothing to hide; or he feels like he now has concentrated his power over the government enough that he can now take of his mask.
The bigger question may be, what prompted Donilon to resign? What scandal is he involved with that we don’t know yet?
ALL nobama appointees and functionaries should be waterboarded, humiliated, shunned and deported. That is the only way to get this comnmie nest cleared.
Reward for BRAZENLY and KNOWINGLY lying to the American people!
Well, I certainly feel more secure already. We know that she will clamp down on those who make videos that cause mohammedans to behave like wanton savages.
He wants to spend time with his wife who has accepted a new job that requires a great deal of traveling out of the country!
You couldn’t make up a better story!
