A staff writer for the prominent progressive site Daily Kos has repudiated her support for Kaitlyn Ashley Hunt, the Florida teenager whose sex crime case became a cause célèbre of the gay-rights movement in the past week. The 18-year-old on Friday rejected prosecutors’ offer of a plea bargain on charges of lewd and lascivious conduct with a 14-year-old girl, meaning the case could go to trial next month in Indian River County.
The story gained nationwide attention after Hunt’s family claimed Kaitlyn was a victim of anti-gay prejudice and launched a “Stop the Hate, Free Kate” campaign that has been supported by the American Civil Liberties Union, the gay-rights group Equality Florida, and the 501(c)3 non-profit Purpose Foundation. Movement to Normalize Pedophilia Finds Its Poster Girl.”) Daily Kos journalist Joan McCarter had enthusiastically endorsed the “Free Kate” movement, publishing a May 20 article that described Hunt as being victimized “simply because … she fell in love with a younger girl who has vindictive bigots for parents.” However, in an update appended to the article Thursday, McCarter admitted that “public scrutiny of this case” had contradicted much of what inspired her original article:
Previously, Hunt’s parents said that the younger girl was 15, and Hunt 17 when the relationship began. The release of the arrest warrant made clear, as subsequent news stories report, that the younger girl was 14 and Hunt was indeed 18 when the relationship began.
These corrections, and the initial dishonesty of Hunt’s parents, make this story much more problematic, and our original petition moot.

With all the Sex Ed in the schools, you would think that they teach the law. Age of consent etc.
When I was in school in the dark ages..we all knew the law and that a Senior in HS did not date the Freshmen girls because they were “jail bait”.
There should be no difference for Gays. The law is the law. If the 18 year old was warned..then she deserves the full impact of the law.

Are you kidding? They would probably teach kids to ignore those laws. Some sex ed classes teach you can’t be sure whether you are straight or gay is to try it.

While I doubt it’s the norm....every school in America...from the 6th grade on...ought to brief every kid at the beginning of the school-year, and send a note home to the parents requiring their signature...warning of consequences. I think if parents realized just how much trouble would be inflected on the family, and the legal costs....they’d yank on the kid’s chain every single weekend to ensure they understood just how bad a court-case would be.

Sex-ed these days encourages kids to have sex. Its called “Sex Positive”. Yes, in some cities the kids are pretty much told to have sex with anything and anyone they want.
I know about a couple boys in Southern Ohio that are doing Prison Time and have had their lives destroyed by being convicted of RAPE for this very type of act on a girl that had too much to drink at a party she willingly attended. Only difference is their digits where attached to a young mans hand! Of course the girl in the Stubenville rape case was 16 going on 17, not 14.
The Leftist buried these boys before they ever got a chance to go to court.

Once again it proves the desire to make Homosexual behavior, including child rape, the homosexuals standard mode of initiation, acceptable and protected behavior.

I thought gays wanted to be treated the same as normal people.
This girl was/is seeking special treatment (and special opportunity to prey on younger kids) because she was homosexual.
She knew what she was doing was wrong and had even been warned by the younger girls parents.

We all knew the saying, “15 will get you 20.” Stay away from the freshmen.
If an 18yo boy was involved it would be statutory rape.
Even if this initial effort to allow the exploitation of young people fails, ultimately the Sodomites will gain the right to legally harvest the nations young people. The non-Sodomite portion of society has no power of resistance left.
It doesn't surprise me that there are people who are stupid enough and evil enough to excuse those vermin. I am just surprised that they darken this site.
