Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse has apologized for remarks Monday in which he linked Oklahoma "cyclones" to climate change while berating Republicans for their stance on the issue -- around the time a massive tornado killed dozens in that state.

. . .

During Whitehouse’s 15-minute speech, he criticized Republicans who dispute the concept of climate change while seeking federal assistance following disasters.

A fool would call disaster aid welfare.

Did they work for that money? Did they not have insurance? Yep it is WELFARE! You can justify it all day long but in the end you are extremely liberal giving away other people’s money. When are you going to let on that you finally admit that you voted for Obama twice? You think 100 percent like him in his beliefs.

This is NOT an apology:

“Tragically and unbeknownst to the senator at the time, a series of tornadoes were hitting Oklahoma at the same moment he gave his remarks,” the spokesman said. “Senator Whitehouse regrets the timing of his speech and offers his thoughts and prayers to the victims of yesterday’s storms and their families, and he stands ready to work with the senators from Oklahoma to assist them and their constituents in this time of need.”

I pray that they vote NO to welfare

I hope so too. The difference between this and Sandy is clear however. In the case of Sandy there were widespread but nonserious effects. Only the surge was serious. The rest should not have been paid for (e.g. snow removal reimbursement in WV, roofs replaced in DC, etc). That was all pork and the surge mitigation was mostly pork as well.

In the current case there is a town basically wiped out. They have no bootstraps to pull themselves up with, everything is gone. The state will have to assist along with other towns, charities, etc. I agree that any federal legislation for this is dumb considering how broke we are. It would be good to draw the line here.

He is just apologizing because of the backlash. He doesn’t mean it. No backlash, no apology.

A woman from the Daily Show made a joke about the tornado targeting conservatives too... seems dead children are useful to democrats pushing their agendas. In the defense of the Daily Show woman she made a real apology - as opposed to this jerk...
