Yep, two years ago tornedo in Joplin, MO...
Also devastating floods in TN...no Obozo.
Yes, Mississippi got NOTHING after being hit in 2010 by a hard-hitting tornado-Yazoo County. Governor Haley Barbour had it all under control, but the Great Ob did not help with Fed funds. That even after other Liberal states were getting lots of assistance. The difference was stark.
Fox...live feed..on line.
Just heard 37 dead, too. dammit jim
When tragedies like this are happening to bring up politics is what the left does. They’re bring out dead children for God’s sake. Try to stay classy FR.
With new advancements in construction materials and hydraulic cement to make things water-proof, I can’t help but wonder if we need more development in this area...especially after losing these children.
In Oklahoma? If they did that they would miss half their school days in April and May. Simply not practical - days with forecasts like today, 99.9% of the time, the school won't get hit. And usually schools are safer places than homes for kids to shelter.
Rescuer said they had to pull a car off a teacher. Under her were three children she was shielding from the storm.
I don’t want to sound mean but if the forecast predicted severe storm was heading there why send your children to school. Also don’t school’s have a underground deep shelter to have the children run to for protection from tornado? I mean how many times must this happen before they build better schools with deep underground shelters?
More tornado warnings still out there...severe threat from N.Texas to Michigan.
O.U Medical Center..Oklahoma. has over 85 patients...65 are children. Expecting and bracing for more.
This is what I'm wondering. I've heard this numerous times now, but not a single so-called journalist has thought to explain how the heck you drown in an elementary school. Not ONE.
15 mins is plenty of time for most schools. From what I heard on fox the plan at this school was to go to a central hallway. Thats how we did it a long time ago. In this case the hallway appears to have collapsed.
Damn Sen. Whitehouse to hell for his callous personal political use of a tragedy. The AP posted an article earlier today listing the casualty numbers by year since 1900 which puts the lie to his narcissistic rant.
I heard this is the 4th tornado to hit Moore in the last 15 years. Maybe they should look into some type of bunker system.
Ohhh...how sad and how brave. I can only cry.
Run where? The tornado was at least a mile wide.
Sir, I don't know if you have a soul. I don't know if you have a brain.
What I do know Sheldon, is that you could at least wait until the children are memorialized and buried before spouting your global warming bs.
Sheldon, it seems your behavior has a pattern. You didn't wait until the children of Sandy Hook were buried either before trying to take our civil rights away.
Like your savior bho, you don't have to scratch deep to find the marxist.
You are right...I’m done with bringing up he-who-must-not-be-named..
seriously, not the time or place
So the children were living a sinful life and deserved to die for it?
Thank you. I’ve been accused of insensitivity because I still don’t understand how children inside a school when a tornado strikes drown rather than are killed by blunt force trauma.
Many schools are used for shelters in emergency situations....generally ca withstand strong winds etc. But in this case it was an F5 Tornado with winds at 200 plus an hour...plus it was drilling as it went.
So God wipes out Moore, OK, filled with evangelical Christians and Republicans.
Is His aim THAT bad?
I’m a Mississippian and I thought about the Yazoo tornado, but I wasn’t sure if I was remembering it correctly. I was also thinking he refused funds after KY was hit with an awful ice storm, but I’m not sure about that (and I’m not where I can research anything).
You from Westboro?
Source for that report was KFOR-TV, the NBC affiliate in Oklahoma City; their information came from police and fire officials at one of the elementary schools that was heavily damaged by the tornado. A later report (from the Oklahoma state medical examiner) says at least 37 are dead and the death toll is expected to rise.
Some of the damage from Moore looks like EF-5 category. If you’re not underground—and take a direct hit—you won’t survive. It’s really that simple.
I think the poster is meaning the nation as a whole, not Moore in particular.
Plumbing or swimming pool breakage?
FOX reporting now confirmed 37 dead.........
It’s OK...you asked me..and I understood your question..not to worry.
The Lords Prayer seems appropriate for this terrible day for our Midwest FRiends (imho). This tornado was not from God.
Lord Jesus, rest those who perished with the saints and the angels.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.
This morning there was no severe storm and no severe storms heading for Moore.
There was just a big "moderate risk" area extending from Texas to Missouri. 99.99999999% of this area did not experience a tornado today.
No maybe it is the good die young. Mercy. You know.
Sure it's good advertising, but they've set up a donation center outside their studios for food/water/clothing donations, passing along contact info for kids/people who've been found and can't find loved ones, etc.
Almost like news orgs used to behave . . .
News conference in Morre soon...live Fox link here:
It doesn’t work like that. It’s more like being abandoned by God because America has abandoned Him. It’s more like the country has shut God out, and God being a gentleman does not go where He is told He is not wanted. I’m afraid of being part of the whole “collateral damage” thing, too. But that’s for a Religion thread, which I generally avoid. When I started reading about how abortion even in Europe is limited to the first trimester, and how the US is up to its elbows in the blood of millions of innocents, I fear the righteous judgement that is coming.
9 yr olds aren’t going to out run a tornado. They are far safer in the school 99.999% of the time. Most of the have shelter areas which are built stronger.
One cannot GO sideways fast enough. If the tornado is coming toward you, there is NO sideways. There is only down in the ground.
There really wasn’t another option, other than building an underground shelter at the school. You don’t want to send anyone out into an EF-4 or EF-5 tornado; the flying debris is deadly. And trying to outrun the storm in your car can be equally dangerous. If the kids had been told to “run for it,” their bodies would have been scattered over a much wider area.
Many homes in Oklahoma have safe rooms built into the garage; steel beams inside cement blocks, anchored into the slab foundation, with a steel door and reinforced roof. If you don’t have a storm cellar, it’s the next best thing.
So it's not possible for God to simply hit Kermit Gosnell in the head with a lightning bolt? (Which I note has not happened) - gotta vaporize a whole town, kill a bunch of kids, etc?
The real message here is about the physics of a shortwave impulse over warm Gulf of Mexico air. The actions, beliefs, even the existence of people in this country or even the country itself are irrelevant and have nothing to do with tornadoes, which assuredly were ravaging Oklahoma before it was settled by humans.
