CHARLOTTE - Rallies in Charlotte, Raleigh and across the country took place Friday, calling on the Boy Scouts of America to keep its current ban on gay membership.
Next week in Texas, the National Council will vote on a resolution that would allow gay boys to join but not openly gay adults.
Both are currently banned.
Those rallying say sex and politics have no place in the Scouts.
"If they don't change the policy, they might lose 20,000 to 30,000 people.
This issue has brought things to a head, and created, unfortunately i believe, some wounds and division" said Scouts volunteer and rally organizer Skip Alexander.
"I think there's a lot of pressure on the national level, some of the major contributors to the Boy Scouts
but there's also a lot of parents who are concerned that this will just bring another facet to the boy scouts that they don't want,"
said Brad Kiser who's son is a Cub Scout.
Many rallies were met with peaceful protest in favor of the resolution.
In Charlotte, former scout Matt Comer spoke in front of the crowd.
He was kicked out of the Boy Scouts when he was a teenager after his troop learned he was gay.
He's been fighting the policy ever since and is founder of the Inclusive Scouting Network.
"When you talk about including gay scouts in the program we're not talking about sex.
We are not talking about politics.
We are talking about affirming young people and accepting young people for who they are, said Comer.
While not allowed to vote, both Comer and Alexander will be in Texas next week for the history making decision.
"We do have common ground in that everybody wants what's best for scouting," said Comer.
The resolution is scheduled to be voted on next Thursday.
If it passes, it would go into effect in January.

Who believe Skip Alexander when he says "If they don't change the policy, they might lose 20,000 to 30,000 people."
I notice he doesn't give his source.
And I'd bet' especially in North Carolina, that TEN TIMES that many people will pull their children out of,
and drop their financial support for the Boy Scouts of America, if they DO change the rules and allow Homosexuals into the Boy Scouts.
But that's the goal of the Homosexuals, to DESTROY the Boy Scouts of America.
And I'd also be that Skip Alexander is a closet homosexual, himself.

But that's the goal of the Homosexuals, to DESTROY the Boy Scouts of America. That, and to abscond with hundreds of millions in Scout assets and real estate.

"If they don't change the policy, they might lose 20,000 to 30,000 people."I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how that sentence fits the context of the article. This person organized a protest to keep the policy. So then he warns of a big fall off in membership if the policy isn't changed??

Sounds like
Newspeak to me. The subject introduction to the article tells of people rallying to keep the current sane policy in place.
Then it launches off to feature one disgruntled fudgepacker who wants to remake the organization in his image.
I'm willing to bet Comer wasn't booted out of the B.S.A. for being gay. He was booted out because he couldn't keep the "morally straight" part of the scout oath.

I will further add that I do not believe there is such a thing as a gay boy. There are only boys confused about their sexuality thanks to an endless drumbeat of media attention and aggressive proselyting by gay men.

This is what you get when you allow homosexuals to keep and raise children.
They spread their reprobate minds to the children.
Damn them, damn them to HELL!

Pretty sick stuff. It’s almost like they want sex in the boyscouts... hmmm, I wonder why.

If it passes maybe the people involved with the American Heritage Girls will start something similar for boys. The God fearing folks will pull their boys out of the boy scouts.

I’m hoping the Boy Scouts have the guts to say “NO” again.

“This issue has brought things to a head,...” They really wrote that?
And Comer is one totally mixed up individual, saying he wants “what’s best for Scouting.” God help America.

It’s not about sex??? The thing that differentiates them is how they have (or want to have) sex. If they keep their proclivities to themselves, who would know or care?

Don't ask me to justify the logic of the reprobates.
If we OBEYED God, we wouldn't have this problem.
