Dear Commissioner Shulman:

Signed,

Al Franken, U.S. Senator
Jeff Merkley, U.S. Senator
Charles E. Schumer, U.S. Senator

If anything can be done to use this to not only get rid of my Senator Schuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumer but to see his butt in jail I need to know.
They owe this country their resignations.
House and Senate Pubbies outnumber all the Rats and all these SEVEN. I just want them to go beat the living hell out of them then run them out of town on a rail.
!.) Have these Sorry Seven Senators been getting updates from Obama’s IRS all along?
2.) Who have the Sorry Seven Senators shared this information with all this time?
3.) Is Obamas IRS rapidly becoming a SELECTIVE Domestic Terrorist Organization against the Middle Class?
Investigate those Senators.
Why would these Senators think that the IRS was NOT investigating these groups "properly"??
Sorry...The only thing that makes sense is that the letters were to coverup the fact that this was already being done.
I saw a letter that Carl Levin sent to the IRS on a site the other day. He even went as far as to ask to have it entered into the Senate record. (wish I could remember what site I was reading)
He named Carl Rove’s group among some others asking the IRS why they were giving them tax exempt status.
Now he is full of this fake indignation that his pressure worked and is made public.
(you beat me to posting this) actually I should have read down the thread further! Thanks for providing the link. I couldn’t remember where I saw this letter.
An article here in Foster's Daily Democrat by Jim Haddadin reports that:
In the Feb. 16, 2012 letter, Shaheen and other lawmakers urged the IRS to develop new standards to evaluate the activities of so-called social welfare organizations...
The same group sent a second letter to former IRS commissioner Douglas H. Shulman in March 2012. ... The senators also called for the IRS to require organizations to document the exact percentage of their undertakings dedicated to social welfare".
The parameters were changed once again in January 2012, allowing for IRS workers to once again parse applications based on political beliefs. The new guidelines called for scrutiny of organizations involved in limiting or expanding government, educating people about the constitution or promoting social and economic reforms, according to the report. The practice finally ended in May 2012, when the criteria was revised once again.

So there are Sitting U.S. Senators that are DIRECTLY involved in abuse of power and using the IRS to persecute Conservatives. Solution?
