Actually, Christians and Jews should join the military and be prepared to resist when the time comes.
No sense in giving up that tactical position.
No every Christian Soldier should consider it his spiritual and patriotic duty to proselytize everyone they meet on base or in the field. This policy cannot stand scrutiny. Christians have a moral duty to disobey this policy.
I don't think the powers that be have the guts to try to enforce this policy.
I am afraid you are right. I am glad I am already retired, and I told my son not to join either. These people could get so "programmed," that over a period of time, I could see where it might possibly be easy for them to fire on American civilians. Who knows for sure?
The last thing this nation needs is an atheistic, immoral military beholden to Obama and other socialists of his ilk. There will be a quick loss of freedom if folks do that. Can you say Tiananmen Square?
Americans should join the military in droves and disobey unlawful orders, for it is Army Regulation that a soldier is JUDICIALLY REQUIRED to DISOBEY an unlawful order, and they can be charged if they do NOT disobey an unlawful order.
That’s what I was going to say. If the military doesn’t want people of faith, then they should not join. The military can have all their gay/lesbians, though, that’s OK, as long as they are not religious.

That’s what the other side wants.
And if that happens, you’ll now have a military full of folks that WILL fire on Americans, that WILL do whatever is ordered with zero conscience problems.
Leaving is not an option.
