Arizona Gov. Brewer Refuses to Stop Using Term “Illegal Immigrant” (Video)

It’s a good thing Jan Brewer is a politician and not a journalist. The Associated Press recently struck the term “illegal immigrant” from its lexicon. Not so Arizona’s feisty governor — and she’s not backing down on this one.

Brewer defended her use of the word during an interview with a clearly irritated ABC News Senior National Correspondant Jim Avila, who repeatedly pestered Brewer to change her language, to no avail:

“I’ve heard you use the phrase over and over and over again. They’re insulted by the term, ‘illegal immigrant.’ That that brands a person. What they do is illegal immigration, but the people themselves are not illegals. Have you thought about it at all, with so many Hispanics in your state? To stop using that word — illegal immigrant?”

“No, to me they’re illegal immigrants,” Brewer said.

“When you break the law, you’re doing something illegal, that makes you an illegal,” she added. “So they are an illegal immigrant.”

When Avila called her use of the phrase “offensive to some people,” Brewer remained firm in her convictions.
“Well I’m sorry, but I believe that if you break the law and you’re an illegal immigrant and you’re in this country illegally, you are an illegal immigrant,” she said.
She added that the term “illegal immigrant” was considered politically correct for years - as opposed to the more accurate term “illegal alien”, but now suddenly people want to change it. Brewer also expressed that illegal immigrants are people, but that the law must be followed, for the safety of Arizonans.

Although the annoying Avila wasted nearly half the interview persisting in trying to get the Governor to abandon the term, the rest of the interview was also news-making, as Brewer said the border was not secure by a longshot, and said that she opposes the 'Gang of Eight' amnesty bill.

Nice to see Arizona's governor stand by the rule of law, and stick to her guns.

Here's the full interview...

Isn’t Jim Avila the one that told the food experts he was interviewing about “pink slime” (now that’s a prejudicial term if ever there was one!) that he wasn’t interested in hearing anything good they had to say about it, and hung up on them twice when they started to say it was actually not a bad food product?

He hung up on a guy once, and when the guy called him back, thinking they were disconnected, he told him he wasn’t saying what he wanted to hear and hung up on him again.

Doesn’t sound to me like he’s really concerned about people’s feelings, just his political agenda. Especially since his “pink slime” pieces put hundreds of people out of work.

Now someone correct me if I have the wrong name.

Well fine for her but don't forget she had the chance to keep Obama OFF the ballot and vetoed the bill.

She talks a tough game but it's all for show. If she were playing to win we might not even be facing a second term of this communist illegal alien.

They’re insulted by the term, ‘illegal immigrant.’ That that brands a person.

Fine! They're illegal aliens then!

I’ve posted this before and I do believe it. Illegal immigrant is incorrect. Think of it using the following example:

A shotgun with an eight inch barrel is illegal. The person pointing it at a bank teller is a criminal.

Therefore:

Criminal immigrant is really the correct phrase.

Try “illegal alien.” It is the correct legal term.

Found it! A reference to Avila showing his compassion for people’s feelings:

“While BPI’s lawsuit points to the tweet as an example of alleged false statements, Avila’s remark could help ABC in other ways: It backs up the network’s argument that its reporters did not say the product was unsafe.

The beef processor has also accused the network of ignoring comments and research from experts who provided a more positive view of BPI’s product.

In its lawsuit, BPI described a telephone interview it said Avila conducted with an agricultural food-safety consultant, David Theno. According to the lawsuit, Theno told Avila that BPI’s process was safe, but the reporter told him he wasn’t credible and hung up on him.

Theno, who describes himself as a friend of the Roth family, told Reuters that Avila appeared to be pushing for quotes slanted against BPI and its product. Theno said he told the reporter he had been paid by the company previously for consulting work. The reporter said he was on deadline. The two continued to talk and then the line went dead, Theno said.

Thinking the call had been dropped, Theno said he called Avila back to see if they had been disconnected, but Avila replied that he had hung up. The conversation then grew heated, Theno recalled.

“He said, ‘f*** you’ and hung up on me again,” Theno said.

Avila, through an ABC spokesman, declined to discuss those phone calls.”

Seems Avila and ABC are being sued for billions for their prejudicial terms.

Here’s another mention:

“A shotgun with an eight inch barrel is illegal.”

And uncontrollable, too! But a shotgun with an eighteen inch barrel is perfectly legal. Add 1/4” to be on the safe side.

Anyway, Jan Brewer is one gutsy lady. Shield her if you’re a gentleman, follow her if you’re a soldier. But don’t ignore her, that would be an insult.

I like Brewer. I know she’s not always been a solid conservative, occasionally faltering on a few issues every now and then. But I like her manner, her style. Her no-nonsense attitude. It reminds me of what America and Americans USED to be like, back before the country became such an embarrassing, faggotized cesspool of PC insanity. It’s another reason I like Palin as well. The two of them seem to be part of the old, vintage, common-sense America, which just didn’t suffer fools.
