When crunch time comes, when the chips are down, when the rubber meets the road employ the cliché of your choice Americans can put away their selfish concerns and come together in common cause. Even Congress, our only native criminal class.
Deep in the bowels of the Senate and House Office Buildings, secreted away where there will be no distractions, Republicans and Democrats, liberals and conservatives, have put aside partisan differences to work for the common weal. This particular weal has never had it so good.
The issue at hand transcends taxes, immigration reform, the war on terrorism, even war and peace (if any). The hush-hush conversations, involving House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, are about how to exempt Congress and all the little grunions who attend every need of the congresspersons from Obamacare, the health care monstrosity that we were told would be so good for us.
Discussions started months ago, when it suddenly dawned on these worthies that the Affordable Health Care Act would not be affordable for these highly paid daytime residents of Capitol Hill, and they must be exempt from the requirements that will bankrupt everybody else. Democrats and Republicans alike are aware of the acute sensitivity of embracing public hypocrisy with such enthusiasm, and the sticking point is whether Democrats can persuade Speaker Boehner and Sen. Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader in the Senate, to commit hari-kari with them. A source close to the talks tells Politico, the Capitol Hill political daily, everyone has to hold hands on this and jump, or nothing is going to get done.

This is kind of funny.
“Speaker Boehner and Sen. Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader in the Senate, to commit hari-kari with them. A source close to the talks tells Politico, the Capitol Hill political daily, everyone has to hold hands on this and jump, or nothing is going to get done.”
Before Boehner would be convinced to oppose it someone will have to explain to him in very simple terms what “hari-kari” is and that he might have to give up his big office. Even then, he may not have sufficient gray matter to fully comprehend how he’s being played.
If THEY cannot afford it on their huge $100k+ salaries, how in hell did they expect US to?............
Any quisling who votes to exempt Congress from ObamaCare should be marked for extinction the very next time he/she runs for office. It should be mandatory for the Ruling Class to have to live under the same laws they pass for the Peon Class....all in the interest of “fairness and equality”, of course.
He’s a hack, but are we getting out to the end of a shaky limb attacking them for this?
“No, Congress isnt trying to exempt itself from Obamacare

“There is a mentality among politicians that they are helping the poor with these laws. “
Oh, come on! Wake up!
Politicians do not care a rap about the poor, except as they can use them to gain power and wealth for themselves. A few, the True Believers in Marxism, are somewhat less personally invested in using them, and are doing it - not for their own gain - but to further The Revolution.
Smart politicians get rich and further their careers during a war, hence the wars on poverty, drugs, terrorism. Those wars will never end because there is never any intent to win those wars, but instead to perpetuate them for the political and monetary gains they present.
Anyone not ridiculously cynical about politicians simply doesn’t understand how different they are from most of us.
Helping the poor buys votes and gets them approval from the media.
This could destroy the GOP. I know the Republican Congress-critters are strongly tempted to bug out but, if they do, they are dead.
Obamacare is a prime example of power grabbing politicians exploiting the ignorance and emotions of the “low information voter” and a partisan and compliant media to create a monster that is the opposite of its name; affordable healthcare bill.
In the end it will not be affordable, and it will destroy our healthcare system.
With only 48 to a box we're going to have to order a whole case.
