Illinois Breaking Law, Stealth Approach to Prevent Legal Gun Ownership
FOID ^ | 4/25/13 | traderrob

I recently applied for a Illinois state mandated FOID (Firearm owners Identification) card. The law as written states that the card must be issued or declined for cause within 30 days of your $10.00 fee check being cashed.

Well, to begin with, it took them 2 1/2 weeks to cash the check. Now 12 weeks after that still no card or notification. I have contacted my state rep (a Republican) for what good it will do and also notified the NRA of the situation.

I know they have a high number of apps to deal with but the law is the law. I'm beginning to believe this is a surreptitious attempt at limiting the purchase or legal ownership of firearms. Maybe they figure after a long enough period of time people will just give up.

Thoughts?

Yeah. My BIL sent his paperwork and check last November to renew his card. Still waiting. Called the state, they exactly 2 state troopers assigned to that office. It’s a back door way to block gun ownership.

Sounds like it might be time to start suing the Illinois State Police. They could staff up to demand, if properly motivated.

Built a home on 2 acres on a 1000 acre lake (great Bass and Walleye fishing.

You likely could sell it for more acres in the South and stay lake front.

Toledo Bend Lake is 185,000 acres and is a fishing dream since they didn't get the lumber cut out before it flooded. Not such a great place for water skiing but great fishing. No Walleye though...

My most recent one was a couple of months ago and took about 30 minutes. If that.

True story, I was there.

What is sad is our right to have weapons is God given and is only enumerated in the Second Amendment but the government is illegally chipping away at it anyway.

Yet a fourteen year old girl can go out and get a free abortion without any notice given to her parents.

Just how screwed up is that?
