Tamerlan Tsarnaev got Mass. welfare benefits
Boston Herald ^ | April 23, 2013 | Chris Cassidy

Posted on 04/23/2013 8:57:15 PM PDT by RightGeek

Marathon bombings mastermind Tamerlan Tsarnaev was living on taxpayer-funded state welfare benefits even as he was delving deep into the world of radical anti-American Islamism, the Herald has learned.

State officials confirmed last night that Tsarnaev, slain in a raging gun battle with police last Friday, was receiving benefits along with his wife, Katherine Russell Tsarnaev, and their 3-year-old daughter. The state’s Executive Office of Health and Human Services said those benefits ended in 2012 when the couple stopped meeting income eligibility limits. Russell Tsarnaev’s attorney has claimed Katherine — who had converted to Islam — was working up to 80 hours a week as a home health aide while Tsarnaev stayed at home.

In addition, both of Tsarnaev’s parents received benefits, and accused brother bombers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan were recipients through their parents when they were younger, according to the state.

The news raises questions over whether Tsarnaev financed his radicalization on taxpayer money.

Relatives and news reports have indicated that Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s descent into extremist Islam began around 2008 or 2009, when the ethnic Chechen met a convert identified only as “Misha,” began to become more devout, and sought out jihadist and conspiracy theorist websites, and the rabidly anti-Semitic propaganda tract, “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”

In 2009, he was quoted in a photo essay as saying, “I don’t have a single American friend, I don’t understand them,” adding that he believed Americans had lost their “values.”

His uncle Ruslan Tsarnaev said it was around that time he gave up drinking and was devoting himself to “God’s business,” while his mother, now wearing hijab — Islamic garb — began relating conspiracy theories about the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks to her cosmetology clients that she said her son had told her.

In early 2011, Tamerlan Tsarnaev first came to the attention of the FBI when the Russian FSB intelligence service contacted the U.S. agency to warn that he was suspected of being a dangerous radical and sought information.

“The request stated that it was based on information that he had changed drastically since 2010 as he prepared to leave the United States for travel to the country’s region to join unspecified underground groups.” The FBI reported finding no “terrorism activity.”

In mid-2011, he was being monitored by the FSB, apparently prompting the FBI contact, ahead of his six-month trip home to Dagestan in 2012, where Time magazine reported he is believed to have attended a notorious radical mosque.

The state did not say when the Tsarnaevs began receiving benefits. But Health and Human Services spokesman Alec Loftus said the Tsarnaevs “were not receiving transitional assistance benefits at the time of the incident,” a reference to the marathon bombing that killed three and injuring 260. Loftus declined to specify what kinds of benefits and the amount of benefits the family received.

Their taxpayer-funded status came to light last night after repeated calls and emails to welfare officials from the Herald. They refused to comment throughout the day, but pressure mounted last night when the Herald started asking lawmakers whether the Department of Transitional Assistance should release the info.

Good for the Herald reporters keeping the pressure on to get the info released.

The news raises questions over whether Tsarnaev financed his radicalization on taxpayer money.

Well, well, well: Mr Tough guy boxer is a card-carrying member of the FSA (free sh*t army). Who sponsored this idiot's green card?

And Uncle Sugar takes another one in the a$$.

And his brother was driving a new Camaro, from a photo I saw. When I was a student, at age 19, I drove a bicycle.

These are the types of fraudsters, cheats, thiefs, freeloaders and murderers that ICE lets in, in the hopes of generating more dem voters.

Who cares what human and financial mayhem is wreaked by these frauds - the dems got the votes!

I imagine the probe went something like this. FBI ran his name through Interpol, NCIC, and the OFAC list then two of them drove to his house, his parents said he wasn’t there so they asked them him if was a terrorist, they said “no, not that aware of”, they left, closed the case and went out for beers...: )

I have to wonder, is this more disinformation?
What about the cars, shoes etc., all that on welfare benefits?

Naw, can’t look into the real financiers of these two.
And Martha Coakley, however you spell her name, is the one asking questions of the one in the hospital, I thought that was what I heard. Now there’s a woman we all know and trust.

So what if these guys (and wife) were living off welfare ? They were young, with child, foreigners... probably living on a minimum of income. I see no problem with that since they were technically citizens.

BUT, eventually they were recruited to kill Americans, and the money to PAY for recruiting/training/outfitting them didn't come from foodstamps. It came from sources that WE GAVE THE MONEY TO and CONTINUE TO SEND MONEY TO.

She was a home health aide and probably did not make very much money for living in Boston.

What has got me puzzled is that he supposedly got an engineering degree and he is on welfare and expecting his wife to bring home the non-porcine foodstuffs.

And he also somehow had enough money to drive fancy cars.

What a bum.

Boston radio talk show host Howie Carr pretty much guaranteed this was going to be the case. The police mentioned that the dead brother had a Mass drivers license and 2 (or maybe 3) other forms of ID. In politically correct Mass, whenever another form of ID is mentioned by authorities, it is usually a welfare / EBT card.

You have no idea of how many people I see using EBT at Mass Supermarkets, who leave and drive away in late model BMWs, Mercedes, Escalades, and Range Rovers. They get on the dole, then lie to the welfare people, conceal income, and no one investigates. Trust me, I know people who have reported such cases to Mass Welfare and nothing happens. Why investigate when they are probably solid Democratic voters who give us Governors like Obama’s pal Deval Patrick?

Taking money from the infidel is another aspect of jihad.

His wishlist at Amazon included books on creating fake IDs. He probably had multiple aliases under which he was collecting multiple welfare benefits from the state. Let’s see how long it takes for that to surface??? And this guy is not even a citizen of this country.

Note where the article says he left USA to travel “home”.

First wouldn’t it be nice if he had stayed “home”, or at least denied entry to USA.

Second why would someone who doesn’t consider the USA home, and is not a citizen be eligible for welfare benefits?

I am sooooooo sick of the US Taxpayor being sold down the river to give advantages for all these other groups of people. We need a Congress that stands up for citizens instead of stabbing them in the back.

Yep. Historically, the mooseslimes in areas they controlled entered into contracts with members of monotheistic religions: ‘dhimma agreements’ whereby they allowed Jews and Christians to reside therein, in exchange for payment (by ‘people of the book’, nevertheless, infidels) of special taxes (’jizya’?).
All we have done is turn that around. We Christians and Jews pay special taxes for the pleasure of their company, thanks to politicians called ‘dhimmicrats.’

That's right, Uncle Chip... I saw Tamerlan Tsarnaev's Amazon.com wish list as well. Besides all the books on how to create fake drivers' licenses and other documents, he was also fascinated with the American Mafia.

Excellent point that he wasn't even a US citizen, although his little brother became one on 9/11/12.

We, Americans, have set up a system to implode under its own weight. And the ‘give-aways’ in the form of welfare to foreign use our money to overburdon the taxpayor, to tax us some more, then ‘go-ghazi’ in moment one night and kill American innocents. And the taxpayor underwrote the process. They, under the leadership of Obama, play us for fools, lie to us daily......Does anyone, ANYONE, believe anything Obama tells us? Do you believe Napolitano, or Kerry, or Hildabeast, or anyone in this administration? Yet the lies, prevarication, and calumnies continue at an ever-increasing pace. America remains largely asleep, even as we wallow in a desired delusion....this will not change us...Bush told us. We must not allow it to change us...even as 94 year olds grandmothers get frisked at airports, as 5 year olds are taken from their parents and terrorize, bombings where 8 year olds and their 5 year old sisters are visited by schrapnel at 150 miles per hour,...and on and on......now Obama confabulates a lie per day and noone with a large-enough megaphone is even out there to sound the warning. We talk amongst ourselves at FR or Drudge or other sites, but none rings the warning bell loud enough. And when the hordes come, as they promise they will, the American experiment will have run its coarse and we will find out whether we can remind enough of us that liberty is not free, that devotion to the Constitution is necessary in all of us, that Valley Fordge was anomalous, that we once held those truths self-evident...but no more... that we have schooled ourselves out of those great truths put by Plato, Aristotle, Leibnez, Sorley, John Locke, William Paley, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, or many, many others who pointed the way,....who gave us the guideposts, and told us that our form of government is wholly inadequate for any other than a moral and religious people..and we would not keep these truths for our posterity. We have chosen for our posterity, enslavement to Communist Chinese and Saudi enslavements. The price for freedom is “Forever on our guard”....eternal vigilence....we have not kept that freedom. We have not rung the warning bell. I do not know if it is too late...I do not know.

I don't think anybody had to. They got in here on some kind of "refugee" status that put them at the front of the line and not considered in the quota or lottery system. The fact that they were Muslim probably got them here even faster. The whole regugee status crap needs revisiting. I'd guess that very many claim oppression or fear of death and provide no proof.

The apartment will also most likely be funded through Section 8 Housing. Which receives, federal, state and local money. I would guess they are getting $2200 just in rent money.
