On Greta's show right now.

I wonder if the bombers were MIT students.

Dozens of rounds fired per scanner....this looks to be a situation of a rat trapped...someone dropped a dime.

It was just a matter of time before a hotbed of right wing radicalism like MIT erupted in violence.

Probably a meeting of the campus John Birch Society.

Seems like if the bombers were MIT students, there would have been lots of pics of them floating around that the investigators could have found before now.

A pair of +$125 pressure cookers when WalMart has them for $25. Golf equipment logo on one bomber’s cap and either Polo logo or Titeleist logo on Suspect #2’s white cap suggest someone having money.

How often does a “robbery” cause a police officer to be shot on the campus of MIT? I’d bet it’s never happened before.

CAMBRIDGE — An MIT police officer was hit by gunfire late Thursday night, a Cambridge Police dispatcher said, and the campus was placed under an alert.

According to a tweet from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, “there is a report of an active shooter in the vicinity” of Building 32, the renowned Stata Building.

Police officers and canine units swarmed the campus, and a big swath of Vassar Street was blocked.

There was no information immediately available on the officer’s condition.

Pretty rare. Could be a drug deal gone bad or suicide by cop. MIT cops probably aren’t going to shoot as freely as big city cops though.

Fox News reporter Mike Tobin - reporting live from Boston - just said the MIT shooting had to do with a robbery... the gunman was trying to flee the scene. Doesn’t look like it’s related to the Boston Marathon bombing...

For those not familiar with Boston, it is important to understand that it is geographically a very small city. Although it might take half an hour to cross with traffic, without traffic from one end of the city (UMass Boston) to the other end, it’s about five-10 minutes on the freeway.

So, in the context of this story—everything is ten minutes from the bomb site.

Generally the Campus cops in Cambridge are more on the ball than their counterparts.

AND there are pretty tough parts of Cambridge off the campus.
