Perhaps I’m completely misinterpreting it, but I hope you did not write the above to imply that the officer somehow “deserved it” because of something he had done or said. I’ve noticed more and more in recent years occasions where people assume that the victim of a crime or unjustified action was somehow at least partially responsible for bringing it on him or herself.
The following is extracted from the linked article: “In the video, King said he and the Trayvon Martin family were being used as pawns to further political agendas in the police department.”
So if he was reported because “he might have done/said other things to make them report him”, perhaps those things were actually “good” things that others in the force or local government felt somehow “threatened” them or something in which they were engaged. There ARE dirty cops and corrupt local government officials abroad in the land—and they don’t like folks who appear to be incorruptible to get too close to them or their operations.
In any case, I hope he appeals or otherwise pursues this in court—something smells rotten about this whole thing.
This cop will either win his job back, or win a lot of money... especially if his work record is good.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a lot of local support. Port Canaveral is predominately white and votes GOP

I don’t think the officer should be fired.
On April second, I was discussing the training needs for my agency’s officers with another sergeant and I mentioned that I had these training aids. I showed the sergeant what I was referring to and instead of commenting as to whether or not he thought they would be useful, he chuckled and he stated that he would, I’m para, his son would, and I’m paraphrasing, get a kick out of one of those because he often wears a hoodie and that when he does he tells his son, ‘Be careful Trayvon.’ Apparently, he jokes with his son about the trayvon martin’s incident.Sgt King was set up by a racist black cop, whom Sgt King made the mistake of thinking he could talk freely with, as a brother officer. The white officers of the dept will not likely make that mistake again.While others like myself choose to look for training methods to prevent another such situation. I did offer the sergeant one of the targets to give to his son. Instead, he asked if he could take a picture of it and send it to his son on his phone.
In hindsight not taking into account the situation, I should have not offered the target to him, and I should not of allowed the picture. For that I do apologize. To my knowledge, the sergeant did not send the picture to his son. Instead, he used it to file a complaint with my agency’s human resources department.
Same reason the DHS "don't hesitate to shoot" don't have a target painted over the chest.
You're not supposed to shoot Eric Holder's people with a bullseye, but your ARE supposed to shoot white people without a bullseye.

It was a reaction to the DHS "no hesitation" targets of white people.
Government can dish it out, but it can't take it.
When I go to the range, ALL targets for sale which depict humans ONLY depict white males.
If those are real targets, that’s disgusting and people should be fired.
The dumbest thing the cop did was show it to a black cop. I bet he won’t trust a black cop again. Hopefully he’ll get his job back. I don’t believe what he did deserved firing at all.
