These are turbulent times for gay rights in America.
The 2012 presidential election saw referendums approving same-sex marriage in Maine, Maryland, and Washington (bringing the number of states in which gay couples can marry to nine, plus Washington DC). Polls show public support for gay marriage hitting all-time highs, and the Supreme Court is currently deciding whether to extend federal benefits to married gay couples and strike down bans on same-sex marriage in California and beyond.
But the most significant shiftssmall in scale, but seismic in implicationare occurring where one least expects them: on the right.
Indeed, when controversial Republican radio host Rush Limbaugh says (as he did last month) that gay marriage is inevitable, and Fox News incendiary conservative commentator Bill OReilly concedes (as he did days later) that the compelling argument is on the side of homosexuals, change is clearly afoot.
In late February, more than 100 prominent Republicanscurrent members of Congress, former governors, state legislators, top business leaders, aides and strategistssigned a legal brief urging the Supreme Court to recognize a constitutional right for gay couples to wed.

as if we care what the French media thinks. Maybe they should talk about the massive backlash to perversion in Paris
A lot of GOOBers seem to be “evolving” while they’re waiting for their laxative to kick in.
Bring on the meningitis.
We are all born damaged - we shouldn't revel in or elevate specific types of damage.
The turd pokers are a devious bunch, as you would expect.
Look how long Jerry Sandusky had people fooled.
It’s been a clever progressive way to twist the language and culture to separate “marriage” from “children.”
Affirmatively participating in someone else’s delusion will not make it true nor cure their mental illness.
ROFLCOPTER!!!
Indeed . . . almost as funny as BOR describing himself as conservative (as he does in his books).
There is nothing to strategize about on this subject.
Homosexuality is a personality disorder based on hysterical and irrational fear of the opposite sex, period. No one is born homosexual.
Marriage based on sharing fear is ridiculous.
Interesting theory. There also seems to be a lot of absolute violent hatred... just based on my limited experience. However, we have lost the argument and now our sons and daughters will pay for decades to come. And.... I have not heard one prominent person talk about this in relation to the debt and the increased costs to employers.

I agree with Bill O’Reilly on his view that this needs to be discussed based on the changes it will bring to the 2000 year view that marriage involves a man and a woman for the purpose of having and rearing children which has been the building block of our free society and our economic system throughout millenias. The big change to all that happened in the 60s with the feminist and free sex movement. I guess we do not know how many of those people were lesbian. Of course, just last week Melissa Harris-Perry of MSNBC declared that children belong to the “collective,” the “community,” so, the leftist media has already brought and continues to bring sea change to our view of ourselves, our families and our nation. We have gays in our family and, they struggle in various ways, even though they are loved, treated equal to everyone else, and are well educated and successful out in the world. They have partners who are accepted by their family and friends. One male has adopted a child. I do not believe their struggles will stop for long even if they can get married. Discontent just seems to always be there. Their lives and decisions seem to be based almost completely on their orientation. I believe they realize that they are only about 4% of the population and even though their representation in all professions, academic and otherwise, public service, the media and, definitely, the entertainment world is much larger, maybe many times larger than that 4%, they somehow feel they need to use the force of government to be accepted by society, when in truth they are already in the “catbird seat,” and many of them are in society’s most powerful positions. It is the traditional family which is breathing it’s last breath. So, in my view, life will go on and the consequences will roll in one by one on this issue which I am sure will spawn other, more serious contemplations. Mother Nature will be the ultimately judge and jury of our Human Nature and She will not be fooled.
