It’s official: New York gun confiscation is on [Gun permit suspended over medication]

And so this is how it begins: a man with no criminal record and no mental health issues is told by the state that he must turn in his legally-purchased arms to the state because they somehow accessed his medical records. Reader LC Scotty dropped this admission of tyranny into the comments of today’s earlier post:

The NYS SAFE Act is billed as a necessary law to protect the public and keep guns out of the hands of the wrong people.

But Hamburg attorney Jim Tresmond says his client was notified by letter that his gun permit was suspended upon the recommendation of State Police, who learned the man is on anti-anxiety medication.

“Claiming that he had taken some psychotropic medications, and that he no longer could be eligible for the pistol permit,” Tresmond said.

The permit holder lives in Amherst and Tresmond accompanied the man as he turned in his seven handguns used for target-shooting to Amherst Police.

“A law-abiding, honest, hard working professional, who never had one wit of scandal associated with him, criminal or otherwise. And they took his guns away,” Tresmond said.

Tresmond is one of the attorneys already suing the state over passage of the SAFE ACT, which at the time was the toughest gun control law in the country.

Tresmond says his client once took a prescribed medication for his anxiety but he is not mentally ill. The Amherst man ended his prescription use within the last year.

“He is a law-abiding citizen, no record. He is a stellar member of the community, I would say. Not an ex-felon. He is one of the nicest young men I have met in a long time,” Tresmond said.

Officials confirmed state law permits the suspension of a gun permit before the permit holder even gets a chance to state their case.

I’d suggest it is time for New Yorkers to take some time to pray this evening, and decide how much more tyranny they are willing to take.

Confiscation will not be done, en mass, with armored police raids. It will be done this way, over a generation or two, as registration requirements are tightened and reasons to own guns restricted. Little by little, a bit at a time, until gun owners are few and politically weak.

This process has been ongoing in New York for over a century. That is why there are so few gun owners in New York City now, because we let the Sullivan act fester there, unchecked, for a century.

It is a national scandal that such a major infringement as the Sullivan act, put into law to protect organized crime, was allowed to infringe on New Yorkers Constitutional rights for all this time.

I'm thinking maybe he could have placed them in custody with his attorney, at least. Contest the law.

I do agree that there will be no mass confiscation, gun owners will get picked off one at a time till critical mass is achieved.

Wait & see what happens when ObamaCare allows the Federales to dig through every (Republican’s) medical record. And that is exactly what they are planning.

It will be done at the local level and the media will say nary a word about it. No one will know who else or where else it's happening IN ADVANCE OR DURING, with no way to protest against it en masse. Only after the fact will these instances become known, and limited to sites such as here but not Facebunk or major media.

There is more going on here than just gun confiscation.

Back in the days of the USSR, the Communists used mental hospitals to jail people fpr political reasons.

We are seeing a broad based effort on the part of the US Government to use vague and totally subjective mental health criteria as a pretext to control people.

The Obama Administration is pulling this directly out of the Stalin/Lenin playbook.

A perfect example is using “Post Traumatic Stress Disorder” as a pretext to confiscate firearms from military veterans and to prevent vets from having guns in their possession.

I’ll leave to peoples imaginations as to why the Obama Administration is so focused on preventing trained US military combat vets from having success to firearms.

Same thing in 1994 Staten Island after the Feinstein Federal gun ban, NYC used licenses to round up those guns.
