Classless Coulter Gets Her Facts Wrong
Conservatives4Palin ^ | April 08 2013 | Stacy Drake

It’s disturbing that Ann Coulter is so desperate for attention that she would stoop this low on the day Margaret Thatcher died. Just like Politco (as Steve pointed out in another post) Coulter used Thatcher’s passing as an opportunity to take part in some trashy PDS. During an interview with Geraldo Rivera, Coulter starting punching up and didn’t stop until she made a complete fool of herself.

Transcript, courtesy of Real Clear Politics:

COULTER: One thing that I know, because I know people who know her, is when Sarah Palin first burst on the scene, the political scene, she wanted to have a meeting with Palin, because she saw raw political talent, but wanted to teach Sarah Palin to do what she did.

COULTER: To teach her to speak proper English. Palin did not meet with her, and just a year or two ago, when Sarah Palin was promoting some reality show or something, she went to England. And she announced to the press that she was planning on dropping by to see Lady Thatcher, and Lady Thatcher put out the word that she was not available.

COULTER: What, I think, a lot of us saw, that Sarah Palin did have raw political talent. And if she had been willing to put her nose to the grindstone and pursue improving herself, speaking proper English, reading stuff, knowing lots of things, she could have been great. She’s a fine person, but that isn’t what she’s pursuing.

First of all, what business does Ann Coulter have demeaning a highly accomplished former executive like Governor Palin? What has Ann ever done to place herself on such a pedestal? Any noteworthy accomplishments, Ann, besides trashing good conservatives and promoting squishy moderates? At least for the past couple of years anyway, because we all know Coulter used to act and talk much differently than she does today.

Second, I realize Governor Palin does not use the same pretentious snob accent Coulter does, but Governor Palin speaks proper English. Does she use slang from time to time? Sure, and there is nothing wrong with that. It’s called being human and having a sense of humor. Two things I guess Coulter is having trouble identifying with these days.

Third, if Ann Coulter knew anything about Governor Palin, she wouldn’t make those comments about “reading stuff, knowing lots of things…” etc. Perhaps Ann should read some of the “stuff” Governor Palin has written, or maybe take some time to watch some of her speeches. Coulter would certainly learn some “things” about the Governor she clearly doesn’t already know, and considering what business she’s in, she should. Nothing worse than an uninformed opinion writer.

Last but not least, Coulter repeats a debunked story by the left-wing Guardian from 2011. Margaret Thatcher never “put out the word that she was not available” to meet with Governor Palin. As former Thatcher aide, Niles Gardiner wrote (emphasis):

I have spoken to Lady Thatcher’s Private Office regarding the story, and they confirm that the attack on Sarah Palin definitely did not come from her office, and in no way reflects her views. As a former aide to Margaret Thatcher myself, I can attest that this kind of thinking is entirely alien to her, and that such remarks would never be made by her office. She has always warmly welcomed like-minded figures in the United States, and has in the past met with numerous US presidential candidates and political dignitaries when they have visited London. But at the age of 85 she is now able to receive very few visitors at all.

There was never any snub of Sarah Palin by Lady Thatcher’s office. However, there has been a great deal of mischief-making and unpleasantness from sections of the liberal press in a vain and futile attempt to use Margaret Thatcher’s name to smear a major US politician.

Add Coulter to this mix of mischief-makers.

Jim Hoft also reported the Thatcher Foundation’s response when asked by one of his readers if the story was true:

The Guardian, of course, is not a newspaper at all sympathetic to Lady Thatcher (or to Mrs. Palin), so reports on this topic, from that source, have minimal credibility. If nothing else, would Lady Thatcher have ever described a prominent US conservative politician as ‘nuts’, or approved an ‘ally’ who used the description? I would hope that question answers itself.

Of course, sadly, Lady Thatcher’s health is not good these days and such considerations naturally dominate her schedule. That much is true. Someone once said that if you plaster together the true and the false you thereby manufacture the plausible, but in this case I don’t think even that much has been achieved by the Guardian.

So there you have it. Ann Coulter used the day the world lost Iron Lady Thatcher to trash Governor Palin with rehashed, debunked lies and insults to play to the ignorant. Bravo, Ann! You, like Politico, have reached a new low.

I really hate to write this but...

I'm from the generation that sees a hero when a person accomplishes something successfully using a combination of skill, perseverance and courage.

McCainiac, finished 2nd to last in his class at Annapolis. He was only there in the first place because his father was CinCPac. And imagine how many guys way above him in his class who were passed over for pilot training.

McCain managed to destroy 3 Navy aircraft without being shot at.

I'm not convinced that he was actually shot down in Vietnam it may have been pilot error.

I've seen nothing resembling evidence that he turned down an offer of early release as a POW. In fact, I can't imagine what would have motivated the North Viets to just let him go... Maybe there was a prisoner exchange gambit on the part of NV that was rejected. But try to imagine this in your minds' eyes:

NV: "Mr. McCain, you are free to go."
McCainiac: "No' I'm staying here until all of my comrades are also released."

I do remember the photo of McCainiac lying in a nice clean infirmary bed with his arm in a sling, puffing on a cigarette. I've met a couple of POWs and neither mentioned any such treatment for themselves.

Now days the guy kisses every liberal ass he can get next to.

McCain was like a prince to the NVA as his father was CINCPAC. I vividly recall Project Sigma having an AK 47 mounted for the ADM (McCain’s father) in July 68. McCain may have wrecked some planes, but; getting shot down in the north is no picnic. I served with MACVSOG men from every FOB. None run their mouth nor do any put a pilot down.

Palin was caught by the media buying very expensive clothes.

caught? LOL. you are spreading outright lies.

You suffer for an extreme case of insane PDS.

I have to laugh at all the idiotic (sad really) posts you have made on this thread. I suggest you seek some serious therapy.

Palin is an extremely intelligent and gifted leader. She has 18 years of stellar executive experience in government service.

P.S. Is that you Rove???? LOL

We all honor McCain's military service.

However, when the history of this period is written, the damage done to the very foundation of our beloved Republic by McCain will be 1 x 10 ** 100 times greater than the good of his early career.

We can list his many failings: his many "gang" shenanigans; his vote against making the Bush tax cuts permanent; his insane belief is man-made Global Warming; his immigration positions; his destructive attacks on Conservatives, and on and on.

The absolute best thing McCain ever did in his political career was to select Palin as his VP.

I’m not going to get into any hating of Ann.

What I want to point out is that Ann worked for “Human Events” and her mentor was a prominent beltway conservative, M. Stanton Evans.

Mr. Evans and his contemporaries of the beltway conservatives like Jack Kilpatrick and Phyllis Schlafly circled the wagons against the liberal media when they attacked Nixon in the early 70’s.

The “conservative” answer in those turbulent times to the long haired hippie pinko sympathizers of the liberal media was a mantra of “fair and balanced” (heard that anywhere?).

But that meant that folks like Schlafly publicly supported the FCC Fairness Doctrine. NBC News fought a lengthy legal battle when they were cited for bias in a documentary on pensions in the 70’s.

Sadly, the stiffest Fairness Doctrine penalty of the Nixon Era was shutting down a fundamentalist preacher’s radio station.

Dr. Carl McIntire led hundreds of thousands in protest for a military victory in the Vietnam War instead of the peace deal Nixon wanted with the Communists.

That preacher made the “enemies list” of Nixon along with the leftists and hippies.

Ann Coulter defended the “peace deal” in Vietnam and said the liberals in Congress are to blame for denying aid when the Communists broke the treaty.

But since when have Communists kept any piece of paper they sign.

REMEMBER, WE HAVE A SIGNED ARMISTICE IN KOREA RIGHT NOW.....

Doesn’t sound like PDS to me. Sounds like a legitimate criticism of Palin. I speak as someone who has donated several times to her SuperPAC.

Sarah is good at firing up those of us who are already conservative, but she has a problem reaching past us...and it ISN’T just the fault of the masses. Look at Limbaugh...the guy has learned how to reach out to millions, and even has liberals listening to him.

I don’t hate Sarah, I think she is great. I also think there is room for those who think she could/should do better...IF she wants to go beyond funding congressional candidates and firing up the base. :)

I’ve never in my life known of a woman who was so strongly hated by so many Americans than Sarah Palin. I actually heard one guy say recently that he voted for obama in 2008 as a lesser of two evils. He said Palin was the evil he voted against.

By the time Sarah Palin 'first burst on the scene' Lady Thatcher had already been diagnosed with dementia. I doubt she knew enough about Sarah Palin to treat her in the dismissive manner that Coulter says she did.

I can’t believe I am defending Sarah. But...when SP went to England Thatcher was in the mid stages of dementia. No one was meeting with her. And certainly, no one was going to put that on TV. The fact that Sarah’s people were not aware of this would be of concern. But those are marketing people, so it really doesn’t count.

It is far easier to bash her than support her since the commiemedia will support whatever you say about her. Sad truth is she could win the Presidency if she ran but the so called Conservatives in places like this don’t have the spine to support her.

FReepers are as spineless as the rest of the eGOP.

Pray for America to Wake Up
