If so, why make threats? In other words, why doesn’t he just shut up and then when ready, strike?

If it does, there's going to be tsunamis everywhere.
Tsuamis nowhere, even from a multi-megaton thermonuclear device. The distance from a blast with waves of any significance is measured in a few miles, at best.
A tsunami-causing earthquake's energy makes the energy of even the largest nuclear weapons look like a joke.

This missile has never been test launched so the odds of failure are very high.

Look like the Minister of Defense in Japan is taking the following more seriously than others, who have fabricated some odd stories about it instead.
North Korea urges embassy evacuations, diplomats say By Will Englund, Published: April 5
The Washington Post
Excerpt:
"
The British Foreign Office said its embassy 'received a communication from the North Korean government this morning saying that the North Korean government would be unable to guarantee the safety of embassies and international organizations in the country in the event of conflict from April 10.'"

North Korea is out of the missile business.
Practice shots unless directed north over China will be shot down.

IIRC, Japan’s last two tests of SM-3 anti-missile defense systems were successful.

” don’t annouce your weapons before you use them “.
Unless you think you can get paid for not launching them. I’m guessing that NK is thinking that Obama will cave and pay them.

I just hope that we are not shooting anything down. I would much happier if we were zapping things down.

I think we will be in a position to shoot it down if necessary and give Japan credit for it. I think we should give Fiji the credit, they never get to make the news for anything.
To: AmericanInTokyo
If they do launch an attack on Japan, I can’t picture China taking up arms together with North Korea, pact or no pact. They value stability. A pact with an unstable moron, who wants to start WW III just because he feels like it, will not be honored by the Middle Kingdom. Kim is so ronery.

His Aunt is a serious alcholic it’s been said...and why she was out of the picture for several years...then she was seen ofte with KimII since she basically was taking care fo him.
Most interesting is she is the daughter of the the Ki’ms father. Who began all this crap...so it’s surely something she will never be rid of..it’s what she is.
Interesting though...if she has any real power, and the media pits her up against S. Korea’s new female leader....which would make for headlines and may be where they go with this....it could be or get even more bizzare.
