Malloy signs 'historic' gun control legislation into law [CT]

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy signed a bill into law Thursday afternoon that will bring sweeping changes to gun control.

On Monday, a bipartisan agreement on gun control was unveiled by lawmakers that proposed limiting magazines to no more than 10 rounds. Those who currently have larger magazines would have to register them with state police.

The legislation, which is more than 100 pages long, will create strong penalties for anyone who carries large ammunition magazines away from home or a gun range.

The state would also become the first in the country to create a dangerous weapon offender registry and there would be universal background checks for assault weapons.

The House and the Senate voted in favor of the 139-page bill crafted by leaders from both major parties in the Democratic-controlled General Assembly.

Just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Connecticut Senate voted 26-10 to pass the gun control legislation and the House passed the bill 105-44 just before 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

“...The “Constitution” state...”
Whadda joke on that is! Maybe 200 years ago, but certainly not now. They should change their state motto to “Connecticut, a Communist State” or “the Walking Dead State”.
Actually, the low-information, low-intelligence unwashed masses of Connecticut are getting the very government they so richly deserve. What’s so sad is that those still sane and patriotic amongst all the “walking dead” have to suffer because of them. Maybe it’s time for anyone with even a partial bit of intelligence left, to get to heck outta there.
It’s time for Colt,Ruger and any other business even remotely tied to the firearms industry to pack up and leave. Oh, and take the millions in tax dollars with ya. There are still some free states left that will welcome you with open arms, along with some great tax breaks, lower property costs and much better and willing work force that would actually be thankful for the job opportunity.

I look foreward to seeing the first compliance survey. That way we’ll see how many gun owners are telling our esteemed governor to F off.

I hope there is a legal challenge to these UNCONSTITUTIONAL new laws, but I won't hold my breath.

My husband and I were in South Carolina a couple of weeks ago... met MANY former Connecticut residents there, just randomly... we weren't seeking them out. Most seemed to be conservative, thank God. ALL were ecstatically happy they are no longer stuck in CT.

We're stuck here in The People's Socialist Republik of CT for now, but we're really looking forward to the day we're outta here...

“...Put them in the trunk of the car, drive directly away from the state and never come back....”

Best advice I’ve seen so far.
That is EXACTLY what I did back in 1974 when Taxachusetts first passed their communist, anti-constitutional gun laws. I put everything in the trunk except a for a loaded Colt Combat Commander which I stayed on my lap the whole way out of that god-forsaken place. I was leaving...one way or the other. And I was NOT going to jail for a year because of an empty .22LR shell.

I FReeped the poll, for what it's worth... Thanks for posting this article, matt04.

Sorry to be such a downer, but I think things are only going to go from bad to worse in CT. My husband and I lost hope after the mid-term elections in 2010 - we thought the GOP would take one seat at least. Our side lost everything, even after we were very involved in that election cycle, and with the Tea Party locally and nationally. We're just outnumbered in CT. If you check my post above, you'll see where many former CT residents are going.

Hubby went to the capitol building in Hartford yesterday, hoping to be a part of the pro-2nd Amendment show of force. He said all he found were a bunch of guys wandering around the building aimlessly, without a leader. No one seemed to know where to go to make their stand. Not good...

Put them in the trunk of the car, drive directly away from the state and never come back.

We have several friends (some are FReepers) who have done just that. My husband and I really hope to follow them "someday", as soon as we can afford it...

The People's Socialist Republik of Connecticut really sucks. The entire northeast is hopeless, IMO.

I was at Cabala’s yesterday. The place was packed and the ammo and guns were picked over. Most people said they had no intention of complying.

That’s great.I guess we’ll soon see how the state is going to enforce this worthless statute.

Interesting and very under utilized. Deprivation and Conspiracy to commit same are mentioned in two different spots in the USC. Both are felonies that can carry up to life in prison or the death penalty.

To my fellow CT FReepers: You CAN leave. You SHOULD leave, especially if you’re paying outrageous CT income tax.

Even the US Senators from CT Murphy & Blumenthal are tools to the UN and the O’ministration because they voted for UN treaty on world arms “control” without being specific enough.

USC Title 18. Section 242. Deprivation of Civil Rights under Color of Law.

I've been urging people to use this. Also section 241: Conspiracy against rights, since it's more than a single bad actor, and they are acting in collusion.
