The United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday signed off on a sweeping, first-of-its-kind treaty to regulate the international arms trade, brushing aside worries from U.S. gun rights advocates that the pact could lead to a national firearms registry and disrupt the American gun market.
The long-debated U.N. Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) requires countries to regulate and control the export of weaponry such as battle tanks, combat vehicles and aircraft and attack helicopters, as well as parts and ammunition for such weapons. It also provides that signatories will not violate arms embargoes, international treaties regarding illicit trafficking, or sell weaponry to a countries for genocide, crimes against humanity or other war crimes.
With the Obama administration supporting the final treaty draft, the General Assembly vote was 154 to 3, with 23 abstentions.

The Senate hasn’t consented to this treaty and they must not.
When is our incredibly stupid government going to stop funding this inane organization called the UN? It is beyond useless, and is a negative force against freedom and our own constitutional republic. It’s worse than the League of Nations.
I can tell you this right now - I will NOT comply with any ruling or law that opposes the Second Amendment of the US Constitution as it was originally written and as it was meant to be interpreted by the founders.

It was written for a reason. Not just as a deterrent but also because it was highly likely that power hungry fiends would eventually push for total domination.

Identify and locate their leadership, NOW, before the public records are scrubbed. Those GIVING THE ORDERS have to be the primary targets when the confiscations begin.

This is the UN we’re talking about. They can’t make mud out of sand.
Under Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution, Senate ratification of a treaty requires that “two thirds of the Senators present concur.”
Excuse me for thinking logically, but wouldn’t this mean if a midnight vote were scheduled and 20 Senators showed up, 14 would mean the treaty is ratified. Is that correct?
With THIS administration absolutely anything is possible.

I’m not paranoid, I’m not a conspiracy nut black helicopter Alex Jones type, and I’m not generally given to pessimistic Civil War II-type thinking. But I swear, I honestly wonder if there’s going to have to be a straight-up armed rebellion and a lot of bodies swinging from lampposts Mussolini-style before these morons in DC finally get it.
I don’t want that to happen because I don’t want my daughter growing up in that kind of world. I want her growing up in a world like I did (I’m 46), a world of small-town Virginia decency and limitless opportunity for those with the drive to reach out and grab it, a world blessed by its Creator with certain inalienable rights that are respected and cherished.
But with most of our elected representatives acting like kings instead of servants, and apparently being too stupid to parse stuff like “preserve, protect, and defend” and “Congress shall make no law” and “shall not be infringed” and “reserved to the States respectively, or to the people”...is fighting really worse than the alternatives?

Right there with you FRiend. Pain was enormous at times. Presently the pain for all whom were warned will be tremendous because they chose to be too blind to see. There will be no joy or told you so from me. And since I am old, will probably be one of the first to perish.
If that were to happen, might we have some appropriate recourse at the polls? Would we bother, or simply chalk it up to the nasty Dems and intractable RINOs? I seem to recall that in 2012 many abstained from voting in the presidential elections. I did not like the choices but voted for the lesser of evils.
I hope we would pay attention and vote out every RINO senator up for reelection who thus disgraced himself (and those who voted for him), giving each ample opportunity to sleep on his own time rather than ours. They are worse problems, and more readily dealt with, than any treaty violative of the Constitution.
How about legislation that ignores, or rejects for domestic purposes, such a treaty? It appears to be the administration line that the treaty will have no impact on domestic law. I don't accept that notion.
However, were such legislation passed and vetoed what would happen?
