Biden: Gun-Ban Legislation "Just the Beginning" -- Pelosi: "Not the End of the Day for this Issue"
NRA-ILA ^ | March 29, 2013 | NRA-ILA Staff

This week, Vice-President Joe Biden, and House Minority Leader, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), showed us--once again--how thorough their contempt is for our Constitutionally guaranteed Second Amendment rights.

According to a Washington Times article, on a Wednesday conference call organized by "Mayors Against Illegal Guns," Biden referred to current anti-gun legislation and told his anti-gun supporters, "Let me say this as clearly as I can: this is just the beginning."

As the article notes, recent surveys show increasing opposition to stricter gun control measures. But this fact matters not to Biden; nor to Pelosi, who also voiced a determination to continue pushing for gun bans, no matter what the American public says.

"I've been to a number of states since this Congress has gone in and many parts of different states and the public is so far ahead of the Congress on this subject. I believe whatever passes in the Congress now will not be the end of the day for this issue."

The anti-gunners see momentum from tragedy as an asset. They believe that momentum is now on their side. And they clearly intend to press that perceived advantage to promote their agenda. They don't care that polling data contradicts them or that past experiments with the same type of legislation have failed. For them, the real goal is restricting firearm ownership in America--as much as they can, however they can, and whenever they can.

"This is a very big deal for the public," Pelosi concluded. "But again, it's a legislative body, and we have to go forward as boldly as we possibly can, and I would not say, well, if the assault weapon ban isn't there that that means less is going to happen down the road. I think it means more should happen up the road as we go forward."

Please be sure to contact your elected officials today, and respectfully urge them to protect our Second Amendment rights. Ask them to oppose anti-gun legislation, especially Sen. Charles Schumer’s (D-N.Y.) S. 374, the "Fix Gun Checks Act of 2013"--which would criminalize virtually all private firearm sales, even temporary transfers-- and Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s (D-Calif.) S. 150, the "Assault Weapons Ban of 2013."

To identify and contact your legislators in Washington, D.C., you can use the "Write Your Reps" feature at www.NRAILA.org, or you can reach your member of Congress by phone at 202-224-3121.

ACT NOW:

Light up the U.S Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121, calling your senators.

Find and write your senators easily here and here.

People need to finally take action or the tyranny will never end. The politicians should be living in fear, not the lap of luxury.

Our Founding Fathers would have burned their houses down and hung them from trees in the town square.

We on the other hand, are concerned about gay marriage, banning pop tarts shaped like guns, and free condoms. Oh and watching American Idol.

And no, voting doesn't work anymore. That idea passed long ago.

And, of all people, Chuck Grassley is about to join up.

If you think they will be happy with an AW ban look at this.

It has always been about handguns. Assault rifles are just a decoy to try and get their anti-gun foot in the door.

Once they get a ban on AWs then they will use the same reasons to go after handguns.

John Kennedy killed with a 5 shot bolt action rifle.

Officer Tippit killed with a 6 shot revolver.

Charles Whitman, killed 14, wounded 32 others mostly with a bolt action 6mm hunting rifle. Also used a shotgun and an m1 carbine.

Medgar Evers, shot with a 5 shot 1917 bolt action Enfield rifle.

Martin Luther King, shot with a 4 shot Remington 760 pump action Gamemaster rifle.

Bobby Kennedy with a .22 Iver Johnson Cadet revolver.

George Wallace wounded with a 5 shot Charter Arms .38spl revolver.

Howard Johnsons shooter (Mark Essex) killed nine, wounded thirteen with a 4 shot RUGER .44 mag Deerslayer rifle.

Gerald Ford attacked with a 7 shot 1911 semi auto.

Edmond OK post office with two National Guard 7 shot 1911 pistols.

SF mayor Moscone and his homo toadie killed with a 6 shot revolver.

John Lennon murdered with a 5 shot Charter Arms revolver.

Ronald Reagan and Jim Brady with an RG-14 .22 revolver.

Ronald Gene Simmons: killed sixteen people. Strangled half his family, shot the other half with a .22 single action six shot revolver.

What do they all have in common? NONE over 7 rounds, yet after each one came a cry of panic to ban all of them.

“They count the letter and the calls, yea or nay. These guys know that people who take the time to call and write vote. We just defeated 2 crazy anti-gun bills in NM by writing and calling. Don’t sell your own power short. Do something.”

I have better things to do, like getting ready for the collapse, than making my opinions heard to Feinstein and Boxer.

I vote every election, but mine is buried by all the illegal voters in this state, and I mean illegal in the broadest sense of the term. Hell, last election, and all to come, I didn’t even have a polling place. I have to use a mail in ballot.

The older I get the harder time I have reading any news or comments, including Free Republic. The government is clearly an enemy of its citizens and both Parties represent the same goals. All I see are arm chair quarterbacks repeating the same garbage. At least the original tea party actually threw tea into harbor...

If I were in charge of the awards, that would be Post of the Decade.

Most people in the US have no idea what that means.

Some do.

No, Pelosi, you’re wrong. It MUST be the end of the issue and eventually your career. No satisfaction until you, Schumber, Biden and anyone else with your point of view is in prison for life without parole. NOTHING else will be a suitable conclusion to the matter.

This is a declaration of war on the American people.

Biden’s spent an entire career talking out his *ss, and Pelosi’s a certifiable imbecile.

Unfortunately, these two twits represent a significant number of brain-dead Democrats, who could end up making trouble in congress.

Keep going, right up to the 2014 elections.

That would be good. I suspect when January 2014 comes around they will drop their anti-gun rhetoric like a bad habit,

but it will be too late for them.Ha
