I am so FREAKING SICK of the “sporting use” nonsense... the 2nd Amendment is NOT primarily about sporting uses of firearms! That was a Nazi Hitler think that Dodd Sr. got put into the Gun Control Act of 1968!

No you are right to be concerned. Here is their criteria for a “sporting handgun”.
‘(B) The term ‘sporting handgun’ means a handgun which the Secretary has determined, using the criteria applied in making determinations under section 925(d)(3), to be of a type generally recognized as particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes.’.
So the Secretary could rule any and all guns ... etc.
And the criminals who buy guns off the street are going to comply? They are going to march in to the PD and turn the guns in and themselves too?
I know and you know that this is aimed at honest, law-abiding non-violent citizens and not criminals.

One of the reasons I'm so dubious about NRA endorsements, and activities -- I alerted their legal department to a few [state] cases which they literally would have to work-at to lose(*) -- their response: "we aren't interested in state-matters." (Despite that these "state-matters" could be precedent for other "more important" cases.)
* -- Some states have very strong language regarding weapons, like NM or (even stronger) ND which says:

This sort of legislation was passed years ago, outlawing the import of many high quality “pocket guns,” including those made by Walther.
This sort of legislation should be renamed to the “Keep poor people from being able to protect themselves” act.
Leftists need to keep the poor dependent on them, and what better way to do so than keep them waiting for minutes while waiting on the phone for a 911 operator.

I can see them deciding that a M1911 Kimber wouldn’t be a sporting gun, but a single shot Thompson Center Contender with a 14” barrel would be OK.
No different than that booger eating moron Biden telling people to buy double barrel shotguns... Then declare any double barrel shotgun priced less than $1000 a “junk gun.”
