Posted on 03/26/2013 1:54:36 PM PDT by lowbridge
Boys and girls at an Alabama elementary school will still get to hunt for eggs but they cant call them Easter Eggs have the principal banished the word for the sake of religious diversity.
We had in the past a parent to question us about some of the things we do here at school, said Heritage Elementary School principal Lydia Davenport. So were just trying to make sure we respect and honor everybodys differences.

Ironic... aren’t there pagan origins of the word “Easter”?
OK... OK... we won’t say “Easter” -
we’ll say “Jesus’ Resurrection Day”!
Wow..I read that Alabama is a very conservative state.
Too bad that pesky Bible show is on tv to remind everybody about it!
By screwing up for everybody BUT that one person...
Maybe a whole bunch of people should sue for the right to call them “Easter Eggs?”
And a whole anti-Christian policy is developed.
banning words like Easter is honoring and respecting everyone?
does he know the definition of “everyone”?
publik skoolz are the same everywhere, it doesn’t matter what state
Is that really how the principal said it?? Toastmasters/literacy program, anyone?
On top of it, so what. We have to bend over and give up everything for one person?
“Heritage Elementary School”
IS this satire?
Does he know the definition of respece? No.
Say it with a 7/11 Indian accent and it sounds right.
hmmm, Huntsville area.
Lydia Davenport needs to be charged with child abuse and treated accordingly.
Good grief, some touchy parent (s) to make a complaint over this. Easter is just the time of the season, these little kids can do the Easter egg hunts/games and fun activities and being outdoors (for exercise, too). People realize what the meaning of Easter is. This is an activity for small children. Get a life to those who want to punish the child’s innocent fun.
Isn't "Easter" a derivation of a heathen name for a Spring Celebration?
“A bunny is a bunny and a rabbit is a rabbit.
And an idiot is an idiot...
Even after this!!!!!!!!
That’s what I was saying, iirc, the origins of the name are pagan.
“Jesus is Risen! Hide all the eggs...”
Nope, never heard that anywhere in church.
America is at war with stalinism.
This is not an isolated, nor spontaneous event.
They ought to be good enough for these kids in Alabama.
Well, the NEA ain’t “very conservative” even in Alabama!
Thay shure r. Izn’t it wunderfull.
Could that be teaching kids to read (oops, how insensitive of me, I'm assuming that they do teach kids to read), teaching kids to add 2+2=whatever they want it to be, teaching kids to write, spell, or merely teaching kids anything at all?
We want our Mussie Eggs!
Right, both the eggs and the name Easter are pagan elements, so I can’t get real upset about this one. They might as well call them “spring fertility eggs” for all they have to do with Jesus.
Groundwork for the continued islamization of America.
So were just trying to make sure we respect and honor everybodys differences.
How does banning a word that is significant to 80+ percent of the population respecting anything? This is an ignorant action taken by silly people!
African-American with accolades from professional organizations listed on her page. Obviously, she checked her common sense and critical thinking skills at the door so she could progress in the field of education. All the markings of a card-carrying leftist. I really, really had to fight the urge to send her a nasty e-mail, It is getting harder and harder to have any respect whatsoever for those “educating” our children these days. Thank heavens mine are grown.
“Groundwork for the continued islamization of America.”
Exactly. Yet hundreds of millions, if not billions, of people are insulted and offended that islam and it’s promotion of violence is allowed to exist, so when will it be banned?
You’re right, plus, teaching that any white person alive today is guilty of events that happened hundreds of years ago..
How do you honor someone's differnce when you don't let them share it with others?
“Wow..I read that Alabama is a very conservative state.”
Don’t take this personal mirkwood, but WHEN ARE YOU PEOPLE GOING TO REALIZE WHO RUNS THE SCHOOLS.
Alabama, Texas (see tagline), EVERY DAMN STATE. In some states they are closer to the overall political leanings of the people, but I’m not even sure the people in the hard-blue states are as WHACKED OUT as the teachers and the others running the schools. It’s that bad - and they keep THROWING IT IN YOUR FACE, but you figure - it can’t happen here, happens only in those nutty places. Well, the last time that I checked, Alabama was quite red and far from “nutty”.
(again, this isn’t directed at you...it’s for everyone)
And that, my friends, is why we should separate school and state.
Groundwork for the continued islamization of America.

When enough people realize that Islam is a terrorist cult:

To be liberal, we have to ban Christmas, Easter, remove all religious symbols from public view, etc. That’s how to be liberal and honor everyone’s views and beliefs.
I don’t know about no Bible show but Easter ain’t in the Bible.
Won’t be long before this “principal Lydia Davenport”
along with the entire districts school board feel the wrath of Americas Christians.
Go to it folks, sic em.
Don’t the good people down there in Alabama own any tar and feathers?
Maybe it's time to put those water hoses back into use.
Well the White House may be having an April 1st egg hunt on Monday (if the sequ’easter doesn’t stop it).
