The House Committee on UnAmerican Activities came about because they defined the communist party as advocating the VIOLENT OVERTHROW OF THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT. Sedition and treason were not taken lightly by either the US citizens or most of their elected officials. Most democrat and Republican senators and congressmen supported the US govt whatever political differences they may have had. My only vote for a democrat EVER was for Congressman Larry McDonald of Georgia. LM teamed with NC Republican Senator Jesse Helms, former democrat, to fight the communist infiltration of the US govt. McDonald’s death in a plane headed for Korea, which was shot down by the Russians, was not a coincidence IMO. The communist infiltration has progressed to their now open advocacy of the total destruction and remake of our Republic into an appendage of the socialist, one world govt. Communists and variations thereof call themselves whatever umbrella name fits a current agenda and avoids whatever is left of the stigma of admitting their communist affiliation. Oh well, speaking of pills!!!

But if you mention any of this in “polite company,” you’ll be thought a kook and dropped from the cool kids mailing list.

As for Dems, even JFK and RFK worked directly against the communist infiltration. McCarthy, as you might recall, hired RFK and was his godfather, I believe. Too bad about Teddy. His infamous letter to Andropov was not just an act of treason but a betrayal of his dead brothers too.

Back in the day, there were plenty of worthy Dems, Scoop Jackson to mention the best. But that party is long gone.

Its MY taxes...and MY social security....why can’t I do what I want with it...And you don’t think there is and will be fraud with gay marriage.

Wrong. Flemming vs Nestor put an end to that charade. Once your payroll taxes are provided to the government, they no longer belong to you. SS can change the terms of its program anytime. You don't "own" your SS contributions or the account.

If you allow everyone to direct their their SS survivor/disability benefits to anyone they like, it would represent a huge increase in costs for a program that has been running in the red since 2010 and has an unfunded liability of $20 trillion.

Yes, there will be widespread fraud with gay marriage. There will be marriages of convenience so that people can share benefits and coverage.

Almost all the Republican politicians are no more conservative than Scoop Jackson, Howard Heflin or David Boren. All of them were lying-scum politicians, but they loved their country.

Now the democrats of today are true Leftists/Socialists at best, Communists at worst, and the Republicans today are the conservative democrats of old.

All we have to do is turn it around on the dems. They set the agenda. They figure out what con they will pull on us, how it will end, then implement it. Much of the time they are successful. We look foolish and then they repeat the entire scenario.

FRiend, right on. It is depressing to watch these GOP critters on the sunday shows. No initiative, follow Dem talking points the MSM gets from the WH, no offense at all, etc., etc. Rove or somebody else dumping on the base on a weekly basis. Staggering buffoonery. This has gone on for YEARS. Totally unacceptable.

I really don’t get it. Rubbing our faces in it like we have no choice. Do they really think we are plantation voters with no choice?

The last elected paleo liberal Dem was probably Joe Lieberman, at the national level, and of course he was driven out of the Demovik party by the “faithful.”

There are Republicans with paleo liberal leanings, and even Dr. Ben Carson, the latest conservative darling, is closer to being a paleo liberal than a paleocon.
