CAPE CANAVERAL -- An Atlas V rocket launched from Cape Canaveral, carrying an Air Force satellite into orbit Tuesday afternoon, against a bright blue sky.

The SBIRS program addresses critical warfighter needs in the areas of missile warning, missile defense, technical intelligence and battlespace characterization.

I used to play sick to stay home from school and watch this kind of stuff on t.v. (Don’t tell my mom!)

I just watched it out my den window. Nice blue sky backdrop.
What are the four white towers at the launch pad?
This shot is from Cape Canaveral AF Station. Just guessing that the four towers are lightning rods. We get a lot of that around here.
Missed it :(
Thanks shove_it.
Thanks. Used to live in FL and watched many shots. Even had VIP pass to watch a night Shuttle launch at night up close. Skipped college classes at UF to watch the first Shuttle launch. The Saturn V launches were the best!
Does anyone know if multiple Atlas 5’s can be linked together for larger loads?
