Right blasts RNC 'autopsy' as power grab By: Jonathan Martin and Maggie Haberman March 18, 2013 12:21 PM EDT

The GOP’s prescription to cure the ills that helped bring on yet another disastrous presidential cycle would revamp its presidential nominating rules in ways to benefit well-funded candidates and hamper insurgents - a move that quickly heated up the already smoldering feud between the Republican establishment and the tea party-inspired base.

Tucked in near the end of the 97-page report, formally known as The Growth and Opportunity Project, are less than four pages that amount to a political bombshell: the five-member panel urges halving the number of presidential primary debates in 2016 from 2012, creating a regional primary cluster after the traditional early states and holding primaries rather than caucuses or conventions.

Each of those steps would benefit a deep-pocketed candidate in the mold of Mitt Romney. That is, someone who doesn’t need the benefit of televised debates to get attention because he or she can afford TV ads; has the cash to air commercials and do other forms of voter contact in multiple big states at one time; and has more appeal with a broader swath of voters than the sort of ideologically-driven activists who typically attend caucuses and conventions.

The recommendations are also a nod to the party’s donor class. Several donors bluntly told RNC Chair Reince Priebus at meetings right after the election that they wanted Iowa, with its more conservative base, to have less of a role in the process.

Here we go again, picking our candidate for us. Not happening again. I refuse to vote for another Progressive Republican. They are all the same Progressives, doesn’t matter if they are Dems or Repubs. a progressive wants the same thing.
Jeb Bush is a Progressive and Globalist.

I am not a Globalist and will not vote that way again. Go to Hell Republicans!

I will forever hold the RNC in contempt over the way they’ve treated Sarah Palin.

Autopsy? Sounds more like a Suicide Note....

Good luck to the GOP in replacing their conservative base with Illegal Aliens and Homosexuals.

1 (representative) vote per county... winner of the county votes gets the state’s votes.

One of the problems is candidates without broad support are winning national primaries by virtue of winner-take-all in a state.

The should simply win delegates that they’ve won and not win delegates that they’ve not won.

In that case, leave out the State’s vote and tally up the counties... even for the counties that commit fraud, the true majority should be apparent ;)

(or even the proper percentage of the delegates from the county elections to pass on).

This is typical Establishment BS.

Basically, they want Social Conservatives and Christian Conservatives to sit down and shut up.

These nimrods in DC really believe that if we “message” that we are really tolerant of illegals, gays, and all minority groups, we can win elections.

LOL...Now, go back and look at the Democrat rhetoric during the campaign.

“GOP is intolerant of illegals, gays and all minorities”

So, in the recent trend of choosing Dem Lite candidates, now we will listen to Dem pollsters and strategists, and PR propaganda - to choose our strategies.

The Establishment people are so STUPID !

The Dems will win the House.
And when you think your Obama Nightmare is over in 4 years...we will get Hillary for 8 more.

As Nancy Reagan used to say, “Just say, ‘No!’”

So, to Mr Reince, I say, “No!”

To Mr Rove, I say, “No!”

To this idiotic “report,” I say, “No!”

I think I am not alone in these sentiments....

Let me get this straight,...”Less debates?” Let me say that again, “LESS debates?”

They MUST be planning to run either Jeb or Mitt, as neither is worth sh*t in a debate.

To think that back in the days of the Lincoln-Douglas debates, the encounters would run something like THREE HOURS, to call for less debates is tantamount to saying, “The people be damned! We consultants know what is good for you. Just shut up and vote!”

RINO manure. This what the gaggle of interior decorator activists in the Log Cabin prop up as “leadership”.

Soon they’ll probably be wearing hot pants to further seduce the delusional Useful Idiots who worship their own STD infested youthful imagery.

Yes. I agree.

If you’re not part of the party, then you shouldn’t be voting on its decisions.

The republican party is a private organization. It should find a way to run a primary without costing taxpayers the price of opening voting precincts on the taxpayer dime.

Also, because it’s a PO, it should police false information put out by any of its candidates about another of its candidates.

This is because it would be ALL WITHIN THE PRIVATE ORGANIZATION.

In the general election, it would be competition in the free market of ideas.

Yep, kicking Conservatives out to the curb.

That's okay. If they treat folks like they don't need their vote, they won't get it. They're going to market themselves into another disaster.

Is there any further proof needed that we need to kill the GOP once and for all.

No, my friend. WE are the Grand Old Party - not these sell-outs, traitors, and flim-flam crony capitalists who've usurped the party from us.

It's our party. We need to throw THEM out.

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn't make any sense at all."

Do you have something better then the GOP? Its time to take the GOP back, not kill it off.

Exactly.

This is our ground. We fought for it. We've held it. Sadly, we've allowed a class of parasites and usurpers to gradually seize control of America's party. Now it's time we cleaned them out.

Republicans want to cut back on debates, just when we finally have a real first-rate debater on our side. Did you see Ted Cruz’s presentation at CPAC? Hiding behind the podium, frequently glancing at notes, reading from the teleprompters, constantly reaching for the water glass? I cannot wait to see this man in a Presidential debate, I think he is going to kick butt and show some Republicans how it can and should be done. NOT a time to be cutting back on debates when we have an up and coming weapon like Ted Cruz in the wings.
