... amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.
Introduced: Jan 04, 2013 (113th Congress, 20132015) Sponsor: Rep. José Serrano [D-NY15] Status: Referred to Committee H.J.Res. 15 proposes repealing presidential term limits. Rep. Serrano (D-NY), the resolution's sponsor, has proposed similar legislation in every congressional session since 1997 --- during the tenure of presidents from ... (read more)
Mr. Serrano has been introducing this amendment, and also an amendment to repeal the 2nd Amendment, every two years since he was elected. Nothing ever comes of it.
Maybe this time it will. I’m not convinced El-Presidente will leave the white house without a fight.
I have seen this come up from time to time. This is one of those moves that both sides supported when they have a guy they want to stay another term. This is also a back door to tyranny a’la Chavez. Our side should never utter this concept again no matter how good the GOP guy is. It will destroy our nation in the long run.
..THIS TIME he has someone who thinks he’s right, the little boy king
Who keeps electing this fool?
The South Bronx.
“Mr. Serrano has been introducing this amendment, and also an amendment to repeal the 2nd Amendment, every two years since he was elected. Nothing ever comes of it”
While I’m (obviously) against repeal of the Second Amendment, I respect that Serrano is trying to work through our Constitution, at least in these two circumstances (no doubt, when push comes to shove, he’ll always trash the Constitution).
It a good lesson for debating liberals. Tell them to get behind Mr. Serrano’s push to repeal the Second Amendment, and after accomplishing that, they can come back and talk about federal gun control. Obviously, that effort won’t get very far...
So it passes the House, so it passes the Senate, so the President signs it
How does it make it through 38 statehouses when almost 30 are Republican controlled?
The GOP holds a 3 branch majority in 24 states. The democrats hold a 3 branch majority in 13.
Moochie is going to be the “stand-in” for the third term. Put money on it.
Got news for you, Texas ain’t too wimpy to fight. GOPe might be, but bet’cha there’s more than a little bit of that “Texas feeling” in lots of others.
If the dems take back the House in 2014, they might pass this and if it does that’ll start the SHTF and “we” will return to the Republic of Texas, likely with lots of joiners.
Here in Michigan we’re seriously considering changing to a proportional (by district) electoral change. The Democrats are screaming bloody murder because it will strip the gears on their Detroit fraud machine.
Oh, he'll leave alright, but I believe he will trash the WH and steal more stuff than the Clintons did.
How does Obamacare get ruled constitutional?
I guess Mr. Joser Serrano likes the concepts of “President for Life” as in Hugo Chavez, Momamar Ghadaffi, et. al. dictatori.
...thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.
it’ll be more like Salvador Allende (Chile)...except the Military won’t do the deed, The Freedom loving American Patirots shall sweep out this P.O.S. by the Voting Booth!
It also takes a percent (2/3, or 3/4) of the states also to pass any amendment. Also I believe 2/3 of congress...Thats why it will never happen......
A better idea would be an amendment extending term limits to the legislative branch,
There is a lot about the “proportional Electorial” that makes me wonder if this is not something that can come back to bite us. Oh, I am sure it will de-power some like Detroit and might have saved us from a re-powered nobama, but what comes to us when its our guy that gets proportionalized.
If there is not a down-side I am all ears.
As I said Crip, I don’t know enough about it to feel good or bad, but it does sound interesting.
The thing that jumps off the page at me that does create a concern is the established fact that the dems, like their friends the welfare cheats, are past masters at gaming the system. Is there any safe guards to keep them from running the table on us with this too?
Once we cross the magical line between Electorial Representative Republic and Pure Democracy, buying voters is a snap, just ask Brazil about elections where 50% +1 wins.
The only other option is to quit voting because its an utter waste of time for republicans to vote in presidential elections in Michigan.
I’m actively campaigning for the change and that’s all there is to it.
He's nothing if not consistent. He's also been active concerning Puerto Rico.
The Freedom loving American Patirots shall sweep out this P.O.S. by the Voting Booth!
Remember the last “election”? 19 wards in PA didn’t have a single Romney vote. Same story around Cleavland, OH. And then there was Bolder, CO with more votes than voting age adults.... And let’s not forget FL with voting machines converting votes to Obama, which is what I suspect happened in PA and OH.
Hope you guys are successful!
