3 Benghazi survivors in diplomatic security, sources say, as GOP demands access

Three diplomatic security agents were among the Americans injured during the terrorist attack last September on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, sources tell Fox News, though it remains unclear how many total were injured in the assault.

Four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador, were killed in the attack, and the Obama administration faced intense criticism from Republicans in the aftermath over security problems and apparent inconsistencies in officials explanation of what happens. Lately, however, the focus has turned to the attack's survivors, who still have not been named.

Republican lawmakers this week stepped up their campaign to gain access to the survivors, with one claiming the Obama administration is engaging in a "cover-up" and another threatening to bring "legal charges."

Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va., told Fox News on Tuesday that some of the survivors have been at a Washington-area military hospital since the attack, saying their injuries must be "serious."

Yet, he said, "we don't honor these people, we don't mention their names."

"It's like it's a dark hole, and I think we're now at a point -- now there is a cover-up," Wolf told Fox News, calling for a "select committee" to investigate Benghazi.

Yes, the Cairo embassy web site. I saw it too. Disgusting.

Even more disgusting when Romney criticized it Big Media dumped a ton of bricks on his head, called it a gaffe.

Even even more disgusting is Romney then shut up and never uttered another word about Benghazi.

Way back when this happened I said this was an 0bama authorized assassination. I still think it was and it raises the gravest of concerns for any American citizen overseas.

This is unprecedented in that our ambassador is dead, but from my point of view it is like a Blackhawk Down failure that we are denied any knowledge about. We have a right to truthful knowledge about what our blood has paid for even if it is an embarrassment to some.

Arms to unsavory characters like when we sold arms to Iran must be made public as that issue was in the 80s.

To see that the press refuses to pursue truth for political reasons they support simply codifies the need to profoundly change the media apparatus. We know irrelevant details of GWB drinking in the Texas Air National Guard but not an shred about Obamas Blackhawk Down.

The prostitute press simply disgusts me and the dishonors Americans right to the truth, and most importantly the story of bravery that was given at the cost of their blood and lives so that some may survive their abandonment by their government while engaged in battle with the surrogate of the same terrorists who killed 3000 citizens on 9/11.

Yeah, those are good points abut the gunrunning theory. If that’s all it was, that would make the cover-up efforts be way out of proportion to the original crime. Makes no sense.

Biden said they were arming the rebels in the debate with Paul Ryan.

Japanese survivors of the Battle of Midway. Those who knew about their carriers being sunk were mostly never allowed to return to Japan for the rest of the war. Those who did were confined to base.

Do you mean were not allowed to return by the Japanese? Or that they were held as prisoners of war by the US?

The Japanese Admiralty was so afraid that any reports of the sinking of their carriers at Midway would hurt national morale so much they ordered that the survivors never be allowed to return to Japan. They were kept in hospitals outside the country and those who were well enough were eventually put on ships that would never make port in Japan.

Saw a History Channel show about the battle. A Japanese military reporter was on one of the carriers. After the battle he was sent back to Japan but not allowed to leave the base for a year. He was under strict orders never to talk about or write anything about the battle.
