WASHINGTON Eight senators who have spent weeks trying to write a bipartisan bill to overhaul immigration laws have privately agreed on the most contentious part of the draft how to offer legal status to the nation's 11 million illegal immigrants. (emphasis added)

"Do you approve of this proposed path to citizenship?"
Currently 75% favor "path to citizenship".
Funny, but there’s ALWAYS been a path to US citizenship. They just don’t want to walk down it.
Rubio, thanks for selling out US citizens with your new BFFs, McCain, Schumer, Graham, and Durbin. Hopefully you guys can still hang out when you lose your seat.
“No thanks gringo. Yo no want no steenkin citizenship. Yo no want to pay no steenkin taxes”
I honestly declare the best solution would be to take all of the applicants, and do a LOTTERY, some go back, and some stay. Quick and remove the judges having to review case by case. It´s the way we sent young men to war in the days of the draft, and it´s equitable and fair. Everyone gets the same treatment. You either had good luck, or bad luck.
Well it is the LA Times - so probably somewhere around 75% of their readers are illegal aliens or living with illegal aliens.
I hope the immigrants to this country who DID follow the legal path to citizenship (paying thousands in legal fees and putting their lives on hold for about a decade in the process) are sharpening their pitchforks for you guys.
The ONLY PATH I want for illegal immigrants is the one that takes them back to where they came from.
They have to be rich or be slaves, with declining consideration for those married to Americans or simply wanting to be patriotic Americans. Welcome to the third world plantation, administered by one-world fascists from all political parties.
It’s not the USA of the 1960s or before. And many who are satisfied with the situation as it is will change their minds after falling to join the rest due to declining debt/revenues. Have fun. Enjoy the slide.
What is the value in having such a lottery?
11 million my @$$. Try 20 to 30 million.
The draft bill will be several hundred pages long when finished.
How long is the current one?
This “pathway to citizenship” nonsense is particularly insulting. As you say - there IS a path, it wasn’t followed.
Lottery is to be performed in your country of origin. Must be present to win!
The value of the lottery, is that the USA shouldn´t give total amnesty to everyone and is uncle´s cousin, giving a predetermined quota...some stay and some leave. Judges can´t listen to every one´s hard luck story, and be moved by tears. It´s just like the lottery for the draft, some went to war, others stayed home.

29% (2,162 votes)
Let’s get that poll down another 5%. 10%. More! Let’s go FReepers!
Illegal “immigrants” get coddled for democrat votes.
71% (5,368 votes)
Illegal “immigrants” go home.
29% (2,237 votes)
11 million? Ten years ago it was more like22million. Where did the rest go? Considering everyday of the last decade thousands croosed the border into our country the number of illegals should be more not less. Of course this is the governments way of keeping the panic down. Cant actually tell people that they are going to give amnesty to 40 million illegals in one fell swoop.
Where is everyone?
Just hanging in there @ 51 to 49, No. (6 PM CDT, Tuesday)
