The Obama administration announced Tuesday that it will cancel all tours starting this weekend, due to sequester cuts. The move prompted swift condemnation from Republican lawmakers, who described the decision as the latest attempt to make the sequester seem worse than it is.

Better yet, contact your congress critter or senator for a private tour of U.S. Congress in the Capitol Building. The groups are modest sized, the staffs are fairly knowledgeable, you get to ride the private subway from the SOBs or COBs and, best of all, you actually get to see and learn something.
This is well known in government circles as the Washington Monument ploy; at the local level it’s called the firehouse ploy (whenever hishonor wants to frighten the rubes into handing over more of their money, he/she has the council start holding hearings to deliberate which firehouse/EMS stations will need to be closed). In the schools, they threaten to shut down athletics. Nothing new here.

Well said! “Nothing new here”. The outrage of this ploy is just beginning to set in my mind. This couple, who have hijacked our Presidency, have the nerve to cancel tours of OUR White House? I would take away the keys to Air Force 1, and 2. No more travel on our dime. Stay in Washington and work on creating a budget for the first time in 5 years, why not?

If I were a conservative Congressman, I’d take that busload of kids from my state who wanted to tour the White House and we’d stand at the door with some Fox News cameras and ask to tour “the Peoples’ House.” It would make some really s****y “optics” for them to be turned away.
It’s past time that conservatives learn to fight back.
He’s awesome. I’d like to see him make cuts to the WH meal plan, electric bill, ground AF-1, etc. Let’s all suffer under the Obama malaise or should we just eat cake?
I have a feeling there will be more pushback now that he opened the door to it, as it were. We can only hope!
I know the GOPe isn’t going to do it. I hope to hear something from my Senator, Ted Cruz before too long. I know he’s getting a reputation as a rebel-rouser...like that was a bad thing. :)
