Americans yawn at budget cut hype

President Barack Obama is pulling out all the stops to warn just what could happen if automatic budget cuts kick in. Americans are reacting with a collective yawn.

They know the drill: Obama raises the alarm, Democrats and Republicans accuse each other of holding a deal hostage, there's a lot of yelling on cable news, and then finally, when everyone has made their points, a deal is struck and the day is saved.

Maybe not this time. Two days before $85 billion in cuts are set to hit federal programs with all the precision of a wrecking ball, there are no signs that a deal is imminent. Even the White House conceded Wednesday that efforts to avoid the cuts were unlikely to succeed before they kick in on Friday.

They whine at the (claimed) 3% cut when in reality a 30% cut would only get us even for the year. Leaving 16 trillion+ still to be paid.

It's a joke. But... Zero could have done us a favor. If, after all the hype, nothing happens, fewer people will pay attention the next time cuts are hyped.

I realize that nothing should happen, but Zippy will do his best to make sure that something does happen.

If the Republicans had any organization and courage, they would have a long list of wasteful and downright silly programs that are ripe to be eliminated. Every time Obama makes outrageous claims they should be saying "A nuclear powered carrier is not being refueled to save the National Artichoke Awareness Board" or "Obama is releasing captured illegal immigrants to save a solar program that hasn't produced a watt of electricity in four years". Instead, Karl Rove sets up his Maginot Line facing the wrong way to keep Tea Partiers from threatening the GOPe officials in primaries.

We need to pin any aggravations from these cuts on Obama. He picked it.

If he were a better executive he’d have been more deliberate. Instead he’s a community activist without a lickspittles worth of experience.

Yup. So war can finally begin in the cities. In order to build up the nation, it has to be destroyed.

“If the Republicans cave I’m done with the Party.”

I was done when McCain took a dive in 2008; Romney’s follow-up was my vindication. TEA Party types should simply fund their candidates (as opposed to the Repubs) because the Dems & Repubs are simply two heads of the hydra.

The Repub leadership hates the TEA Party because they offer a real alternative, and one that involves fewer gubmint workers (ALL politicians want more gubmint workers).

If past history is any predictor...

A LOT of coaches get fired at the end of a losing season.

The GOP tends to keep theirs around: Coach Emeritus or something like that.

Below is a personal report re the tragedy of the SBS in wino country and from gene pool contacts across the nation:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/2992494/posts?page=46#46

“I just woke up, Did we survive ?”

BOL! The same here. We were out carousing last night, actually going to good high school play.

This morning I noticed:

Our home was still standing and our neighbors’s homes.

Our fishwrap had been delivered apparently without the delivery lady being shot, stabbed, raped, mugged or suffering a car jacking.

Some kids were walking by to their shool, and other were being NasCared by their mothers.

Our water, sewer, electicity, natural gas, cable tv, internet and phone systems were still working.

My trophy wife and her gene pool like to talk in the early morning. She uses our landline and her cell. Everyone in her gene pool was still safe and alive. She texted our grandkids, and they were on their way to schools which where still open. Their NasCar driver, our DIL, said the traffic lights worked and traffic to and from the school. She and the kids had no problem. When, she got home her, I phone worked.

Our adult sons drove trucks or rode their bikes to their real work places with zero problems and everything is working including them and their work staff.

My wife said the local tv stations which make a cat in a tree a major story, had no disasters to show. PS: The local tv stations went to see/hear the magical Oreo. He looked hungover as he tried to blame the evil republicans for the horrible impact of the Seq bs.

Obviously the Seq bs has not really impacted us.

Nothing will happen (in reality). Zero will manufacture some "Reichstag fire" calamity (or more than one), the "media" will report on that and not on the fact that the sequester isn't really doing any harm, or wouldn't if Zero didn't deliberately cause them. The Repubs will be blamed mercilessly until they go into their folding lawn chair routine (we know they will).

The Dems and "media" will have a few great laughs at how gullible the Repubs are, and Zero will get his tax increases without having to cut spending, all while making the Repubs look like fools - again.

Having the "media" covering for you and doing your bidding, even when you kick them like the dogs they are, has got to be way too much fun to resist.
