Doesn't add up. She was thinking about committing her son but didn't restrict guns from him???

She told people not to talk to him (because he was so strange???), didn't let people from her weekly game group come inside her house - but she didn't restrict gun access????

Amen, sister. I thought that from day one. By far, the largest amount of blame lies on her shoulders. Libtards would have us feel sorry for her, but she really is the one responsible.

(I do feel sorry for her, but not the way libtards do.)

Let's be real.....He likely continuously threatened her and restricting the arms would make him even angrier...and sh'ed be offed just a bit sooner. This was an ongoing thing for a long time. She was a victim in more ways than one.

Like the dude in Webster NY who went on a rampage....he killed his sister FIRST...

Threatened people don't report it.....because they are usually told....Well, he hasn't done anything....

google “Andrew Ellmaker” He was nuts, on meds and in treatment with a social worker visiting him at home. He killed the social worker with a knife and then cut her up with a chain saw, all which he was allowed by his mother to keep in his room.

Another point - people who live with crazy people become a bit crazy themselves. It’s contagious. After a while, insane behavior starts to seem normal.

Guns were locked up. Crazy guy was left home alone with the secured weapons for 3 days. He broke into the safe and got the guns.

A better plan would have been to unscrew apart the hard drives and .... Smash the platters and throw them in random trash bins. Even just hammer them and chuck in random dumpsters etc...better than leaving them at the crime site. But the psycho-killer is dead and gone so what does he care

How Nancy Lanza’s weapons were stored is of interest to state lawmakers as they draft gun-control proposals in the aftermath of the Newtown school shooting. They have asked the state’s attorney’s office for an update on the investigation, seeking information not only about the weapons Lanza used but also the state of his mental health.

In addition to the high-powered rifle that Lanza wielded to blast his way into the school, the two handguns he was carrying and a shotgun police found in the trunk of the car he drove, there was one other weapon in the Lanza house — an “old Springfield rifle” — one of the law enforcement sources told Hearst Connecticut Newspapers.

The source said the bullets that struck three cars in the Sandy Hook Elementary parking lot were fired from inside one of the classrooms and exited the building through the windows. It’s not yet clear whether the shots had been aimed at arriving police officers or were just shots that had gone wild.

State police also are returning to families the since-laundered clothes worn by the victims when they were killed. Some of the families are accepting them. Others don’t want them back.

Investigators appear to be making slow but dogged process.

“There is a lot of evidence that was recovered, but the question is, what does it tell us?” said one law enforcement source. “This is not a who-done-it.”

Stephen J. Sedensky III, the state’s attorney in Danbury who oversees the investigation, said Friday, “I expect that it will go on for a number of months, but I hope that it can be (completed) within the time frame that I testified to before the Legislature, which is the summer.”

In the two months since the shootings, Newtown residents have sought to achieve some degree of normalcy, albeit a new one.

The students of Sandy Hook now attend classes at the former Chalk Hill Middle School in neighboring Monroe. The building was quickly upgraded with the latest security measures and also refurbished to remind students of their old home.

The fate of the Sandy Hook school building has been the subject of two lively town hall meetings, with residents divided over whether the building that housed kindergarten through fourth grade should be razed or converted to some other use.

Some parents in the school district are pushing for a continued presence by armed security guards or police officers at all seven district schools.

More than $9 million has been raised by the United Way’s Sandy Hook Relief Fund, the largest of several ventures to help the victims’ families, first responders and the community at large.

Several family members of the victims have joined Sandy Hook Promise, a community group that seeks a broad national dialogue on ways to avoid future mass shootings and on how to promote community healing.

Victims’ family members have cautiously stepped into the public arena, joining gun-control rallies, urging attention for mental health treatment and attending President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.

On Friday, Obama at a White House ceremony awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal, the second-highest civilian honor, to the families of the six slain teachers and administrators at Sandy Hook.

The recommendations of Vice President Joe Biden’s task force on gun violence either have been enacted into executive actions by Obama or referred to Congress for review. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., said last week that lawmakers are likely to support universal background checks for gun purchasers, but are divided on whether to limit large-capacity ammunition magazines and to ban assault weapons.

Two state task forces are reviewing the events of Dec. 14 — a blue-ribbon panel appointed by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and a bipartisan group of state legislators.

House Minority Leader Lawrence F. Cafero Jr. said Friday he anticipates bills to come before the House and Senate by March 13, and perhaps a week earlier.

Cafero said he has given Chief State’s Attorney Kevin Kane a list of 10 questions that would aid lawmakers in fashioning proposals, including whether Nancy Lanza used a storage locker or some sort of safe to store her weapons; details on Adam Lanza’s mental health history; whether he attempted to buy guns on his own; and exactly which guns he used in the killings

I am not sure that having a safe would have prevented this crime. He would have just forced her to open the safe.

We also don’t know what treatment she sought for her son. Perhaps, she was in denial about the whole thing.

and have subpoenaed computers of people they believe were in contact with the Sandy Hook mass murderer

If this guy lived in some kind of on-line gaming fantasy world, there's going to be a whole bunch of people whose lives are about to be turned upside-down who probably had no idea they even had any association with Lanza.

Look, these suffering mothers of kooky sons are abandoned by the fathers who are too big of wusses to hang with the problem (it might adversely affect their careers, their self images or their pursuit of tail), they are left struggling by our society who say you “make them go to college or kick them out”, kcicking them out means death or incarceration, and the mothers get no help .

This is not a new or original problem, but none of the genius psychologists or social workers has any freaking clue what to do and no one has tried to put together some sort of group homes for these misfits so the mothers can live a normal life. So the mothers keep on trying, keep on praying, God keeps on not helping or not giving these kooky boys an epiphany or a Damascus Road experience like prayed for and things get more and more dangerous.

Shame on somebody, not sure who.

no so fast, RC.

These mothers (and there are kooky and dangerous girls too, just not as many) are left with no resources, and our society offers them no help. They are isolated with a nut case and have no where to turn.

hoping there may be clues about what provoked him to shoot his mother to death, then kill 20 first-graders and six educators

What provoked him? Or what inspired him?

Considering the well known “accuracy” of media reports, especially in this case, I dont think we really know anything about how the guns were stored, lanza’s relationships with his family, or what meds he was on. There are so many conflicting reports that all this is speculation.

Earlier in their investigation, State Police found a trove of violent gaming material at the Newtown home Lanza shared with his mother, Nancy.

Here we have the nexus to part of his madness.

I know an ER psychiatrist who when a parent brings a teenager into the Emergency Room with complaints that he is suicidal or homicidal always asks the kid if he plays war or other such violent video games.

The child ALWAYS says yes.

Then he asks how many people he killed today. The kid gives usually a number in the 100s and the parents are shocked.

We now have soldiers receiving treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder who are flying the drones and killing people. These are adult men who are trained to kill from a chair and a video screen.

So when you allow a child or teen, to sit in their room, for hours, playing games where all they are doing is killing, and these games look real, it's not a leap to think that they will go real-life. We have a whole generation of kids with PTSD and it's only going to get worse.

How will we ever really know if she had the firearms secured from him or not? Mentally ill people can be very clever and cunning; possibly she did have the weapons secured and he managed to locate keys/combinations. Not sure how law enforcement can ever be sure, she is not alive to question.

I think if she knew he was mentally ill, seems she did- she should have not had firearms in the house. Yet she may have been convinced they were secure from him, until they weren’t.

I feel sorry for her because of the stories that she was attempting to get help for him and it seems to be extremely difficult for families to get help for mentally ill people against their will.

Not sure what to think about her keeping the firearms and not sure how she dealt with that. I did read one news story where the reporter claimed to go to gun ranges and could not find one where she had taken her son to in recent years. Possibly she did take him regularly before he showed serious symptoms of mental illness. Many mental problems seem to appear as a child grows up, not always present.

“They” meaning state lawmakers.

Yep, there are a lot of questions allright. But, if I ask then that makes me a “Conspiracy Theorist”.

But I can say definatly what gun was used to kill “all”, every single one, of the victims. It was the Bushmaster. I know. I have a gen-u-wine e-mail from the Medical Examiner, H.Wayne Carver stating exactly that. So, all you cops, lawmakers and concerned citizens, you don't have to ask that question.
