The Prince of Wales was secretly given a say over new laws to ban hunting and to introduce the Governments green deal
...
The Prince was most recently asked for his consent for the energy bill in September 2011, which passed into law the Governments green deal which encourages homeowners to take out a loan to make their house more energy-efficient.
He was also asked about the Hunting Bill in July 2003, the same month that MPs voted on a free ballot to ban hunting with dogs in the UK.
...
The Prince has faced criticism for sending the letters - known as black spider memos because of his handwriting - to ministers, marked private and confidential, setting out his views on aspects of government policy.

I truly thought this article would be about Obama’s latest decrees....
To: george76
My first thought was that they were being sent to the “Little Red Corvette” guy in Minneapolis. The people living in this country are starting to demand that movie stars and rock stars run the country.

The Prince is only doing his duty. This article is nothing but a hatchet job. There is no “there” there.

I approve.

That's just what I want, an effeminate little dilettante deciding what new laws should be imposed upon me.
Wait a minute...

Regretably, the Prince of Wales is an airhead. But Parliament is within its rights to ask his advice, and if asked, it’s his job to give it to them.
Parliament is under no obligation to take his advice, or that of the Queen. Obviously they asked him because they knew he was a greenie airhead, and that was the response they wanted.
But I doubt whether it made much difference, since most members of Parliament these days seem to be jerks, too. The Conservatives are little better than Labour.

Yes. Probably they didn’t ask the Queen because they didn’t want intelligent but politically inconvenient advice.
