New York City's Imperial Mayor Bloomberg Bans Again (Styrofoam!)
Investors Business Daily ^ | 1/14/2013 | IBD editorials

Autocracy: Still pulsing with the power from outlawing big servings of sweet drinks, Michael Bloomberg now wants to run Styrofoam out of his city. Clearly, he believes that everyone has to live exactly as he wants them to live.

During Thursday's State of the City address, New York Mayor Bloomberg called for a ban on Styrofoam food packaging.

It's all a part of his crusade to eliminate smoking, sugary drinks, salt and other items he doesn't like — and, hence, thinks no one else should have.

So what comes next, Mr. Mayor? What's the target after Styrofoam? Beef? Eggs? Cheese? Or maybe a limit on toilet paper purchases? Or an outright ban on paper towels? Because paper products do have an environmental impact, don't they? Paper is the most common product found in landfills, making up 28.5% of volume.

Bloomberg is going after polystyrene because, he said, it "is virtually impossible to recycle and never bio-degrades." It is "something that we know is environmentally destructive," he said, and "is something we can do without."

"We will work," he promised, " to adopt a law banning Styrofoam food packaging from our stores and restaurants."

"It's something we can do without."

Get used to doing without, New Yorkers. You deserve it.

I can say this, 'cause I'm from Massachusetts.

Only the mayor can save those poor pathetic New Yorkers from themselves. Because he knows better.

New Yorkers have reelected him twice. Like with the foolish people who reelected Obama, only to find their own taxes going up, they brought this on themselves. The only tragedy is that they also brought this down on innocent people who knew better.

This is the “natural” chain of events in any major city. As time goes on, a city like New York becomes a place where more and more people live, and yet less and less really productive work ever gets done. At the end of the day, everything is a “burden” of some sort because you’ve got 8 million people living in a confined geographic area who are absolutely incapable of fending for themselves and end up living like domesticated animals.

The once tough and unflappable New Yorker has learned to be happily and docilely led around by the nose. There’s a lesson here about government.

my pre-written response to all things Bloomberg:

Bloomers is a Crony-capitalist, nebbish, poor little rich boy, self hating jew, tiny buttwipe of a man...the only reason he is probably not a fag (the jury is still out) is that he has the greatest aphrodisiac of all time, billions of dollars....he decries the 2nd amendment, but whines about how the enemy’s first amendment rights to worship are being usurped....even though Islam is NOT a religion but a murder cult.....and dont get me started on salt, transfats, cigarettes and sugar

Has he ever considered giving the city a wash or is he only interested in banning bizarre things? The whole damn thing needs to be power washed.

I’m really beginning to believe democratic form of government can never work. They just can’t. Deep down, people want a king to lead them around and absolve them of personal responsibility. It’s what happened to the Israelites in the Bible.

well...the ones who voted did.

or they voted for a WORSE democrat, or threw away their vote by making a 3rd party choice or write in.(which, if I still lived in the wormy apple, I would have done).

it is lose, lose no matter how you look at it and the only fix is to take over the republican party in NYC and put up a conservative candidate...who will be voted down for whatever democrat, that those clowns put up.

In the history of the world, representative government, based on the natural law, is extremely rare.

Well, as we know, they put up no resistance to the “usurper.” A complete disgrace as bad as slavering for Hillary Clinton to move to NY and run for senator.

According to Neil Young, "We got styrofoam boxes for the Ozone Layer".

Keep On Rockin' In The Free World, Bloomberg.

(How odd is it that things have "progressed" so much from the warnings of a song released in 1989).

Yes. The third time was after he got the term limit law changed to allow him a third term. Will he do it again so he can run again this year?

A truly democratic form is probably impossible to MAKE work.
A constitutional republic would work for a people who have morals and fortitude but when the people become degenerate it devolves into a democracy. The spectacle of people who should know better referring to America as a democracy as if it was designed to be a democracy is all the explanation needed for why the country is falling apart. Try to explain to most people that the United States of America was never intended to be a democracy and they look at you as if you are an idiot.

When people are sold the idea that ANYONE who is over eighteen years of age and breathing is a qualified voter there is no way for a nation to survive. Very few of the people who SHOULD be voting want a “king to lead them around and absolve them of personal responsibility” but their votes are overcome by the votes of those who in all too many cases don’t even speak English let alone understand one thing about what they are actually voting for and by the votes of those who actually DO NOT EXIST. Vote fraud is an old and honored tradition in this country.
