“Anyone read anything about the people who owned the house? Wonder if insurance covers the loss or are they just screwed?”
The owner(s) of the cabin can file a property loss claim against their homeowner insurance carrier and their insurance carrier will subrogate against San Bernardino County Sheriff and San Bernardino County (The Sheriff’s deputies lobbed pyrotechnic tear gas into the cabin), for reimbursement of the claim payment to their insured property owner.
None of that would preclude the property owner from filing a civil suit against the county for financial recovery of costs from the loss of their property.

>>If that's the case then why, as noted elsewhere on the thread, did the live-TV interviews of residents have them expressing relief, not that Dorner was dead, but that the police wouldn't hurt them?
>
>I'm confused, did the housekeepers he tied up at gunpoint say that? Or how about the guy he pointed a rifle at and whose car he stole? Did he say that? Or how about the woman whose cabin he holed up in and shot at the police from? Did she say that? I don't know; I'm relating what was stated in another post. It's still a valid question: if the residents were expressing concern for their own health/safety, at the hands of the police, it indicates something is wrong with our police, does it not?
I would venture to suggest that it is the difference between a "law enforcement officer" and a "peace officer" -- the former is about force, pure and simple; the latter is is about peace. (And I believe that 'peace' is not the absence of war, but the presence of Justice.)
Could it be that the Law Enforcement Officer is so completely disconnected from the concept of Justice that the people are beginning to realize their fear of them?

There are a lot of riders on our fire insurance, but I don't remember anything about an Act of San Bernadino County Sheriffs

Funny, his manifesto said what his intentions were.
And he did mention in tehre that he did intend to die.
It’s in his own words.

To begin with, the couple who Dorner tied up were not housekeepers, but the home owners who had come to clean up after the snow.

Yes, I have been called many things, including "grumpy old man" as you say. However as a member of my VFW post Honor Guard I have given the final honors to many of my fellow veterans who also have been called vile names by those that have never served such as yourself.

Question: How many of the bleeding hearts would have risked their lives to coax Dorner out peacefully? Thats called a False Dilemma With a bit of Ad hominem for flavor.
Youre welcome.

And he did mention in there that he did intend to die.But the cops should have waited until he expended his ammo and then taken him alive.
Seriously, there is a poster saying just that.

You are right. I don’t mourn this man, but I don’t like how this was handled, and wonder if Obama or his minions had any input.

Be sure to inform Deputy McKay’s widow. You know, the wife of the guy shot and killed in the siege at the cabin.

Admittedly, I probably don't know all the facts, despite my effort, but I just think something about this whole story doesn't smell right. You and me both.

Okay, to be fair, it was the sheriff’s department that did the torching, not LAPD. I still propose:
Lets eliminate judges, courtrooms and due process. Put the police in charge of deciding who is guilty and let them decide on who is punished, who lives, who dies.
It streamlines the entire process. Think of the tax money that would be saved. Of course the lawyers who would lose their gravy train.

What were they supposed to do, send in cookies and wait him out until he shot a few dozen more cops? Yes, they were suppose to let him randomly kill police officers, journalists and any wandering citizens.
Liberal killers ( he was after all a DEMOCRAT, FOR gun control, a Union member, and last but not least, black - things the MSM appear to be leaving out of their stories - well, they include the 'black' part - that plays up the 'victim' angle...) Easily he should have been allowed to murder another six or seven people...as you say.
And cookies? Nice touch. Maybe girlscouts could have brought them to him... He liked girls. Called the father of one he murdered to taunt him... that's charm.
