Can there be organized crime without official corruption?

Posted on 02/12/2013 6:43:06 PM PST by cradle of freedom

Is it possible for organized crime to exist without a corrupt government that is paid to look the other way? I think this is what is happening in Chicago as hundreds of people are killed in the streets while the city government wrings its hands blaming anything and anyone but themselves for the catastrophy of 500 needless deaths.

Gangstas hire straw buyers to purchase guns outside of the Chicago city limits. When the straw buyers are caught, their sentences are plea bargained down to very low level misdemeaners allowing the straw buyers to keep buying guns for the gangstas. This keeps an ample supply of guns on the streets while honest citizens have to go to great lengths to get a gun.

This whole thing smells. This is what I think is REALLY going on. Tons of Mexican drugs are coming into Chicago, the gangstas are fighting each other for domination of the drug trade, the corrupt judges and other politicians are getting their skim to look the other way and not get too zealous about enforcing the law. They go through the appearance of enforcing the law but they make the law a joke when criminals actually get before a judge. It is the same old story--a slap on the wrist. Nothing gets better and the clueless voters keep reelecting a corrupt regime.

Yes, there can be, but having government ‘on your side’ obviously helps. The Italian Mafia got started by taxing shopkeepers for “protection”.

For organized crime to flourish it is necessary for them to have all of those politicians that they carry around in their pocket, like so many nickels and dimes.

Look at it differently and ask yourself, can the Democrats continue to exist in their present form if they no longer have organized crime to control the unions?

It begins to make perfect sense when you realize that Chicago (and other progressive cities) government is running the organized crime mob. The only ones prosecuted are independents, other organizations trying to encroach, and defectors.

Drug criminalization hyperinflates drug profits and channels them into criminal hands, which increases their ability to pay effective bribes. Just another reason to legalize drugs.

Notice how Raum Emmanuel and the other Dems put on a big Shakespearian drama about the poor youths dying in the streets and the evil gun manufacturers. The more drama the more they are covering up. It should be interesting to see how this will play out since the FBI are looking into the connection of the Sinaloa cartel and the Chicago drug scene.

The Mafia, as we have always know it, is no longer a significant crime player. Government has replaced them as the Mob.
