What kind of coroner would conclude she drank two gallons a day? None, scientifically. No such test exists. My point was he is a coroner, not a talk show host. He probably wrote a lot of global warming studies too. Obviously he needs no real data to back him up, he just puts out his (shady) credentials and defines reality. Ok, I am putting down the milk jug. Darn.

Milk is probably bad for you if you drink 2 gallons a day.

You are correct, the Coroner could never know that stuff

If she was in New Zealand, she could not have consumed 2.2 gallons of anything a day. She could have consumed 8 liters a day though (or should that be "litres"?).

Consuming 8 liters a day of water might cause health problems.

Can you imagine the pain and suffering she went thru when Coca Cola brought out New Coke?

I’ll bet her pancreas nearly disintegrated too.

When a New Zealand woman died in February 2010, her family swiftly pointed fingers at her 2.2 gallon a day Coke habit.

Perhaps he just concluded that her family was telling the truth.

The direct evidence does seem a bit slim. However, there’s probably enough indirect evidence for the coroner to draw the conclusions he did — or at least to put them within the realm of plausibility. (Momentarily setting aside the possibility of media nonfeasance, misfeasance, or malfeasance in the coverage of this story.)

The toxicity of caffeine is quite well known, as is the number of Calories in a gallon of Coke. Also, she had her teeth removed, because the coke dissolved the enamel. That’s got to correlate with other health problems.

According to the Coca-cola nutrition facts web site, that's just over two pounds of sugar per day. There are people who might consider that excessive. [Note: two gallons of anything is excessive, but even ignoring the fluid volume, that's a lot of sugar, equivalent to six dozen Dunkin Donuts chocolate frosted donuts - daily!]

"Why doesn’t anyone point their fingers at the family members that allowed her to continue her 2gal. a day habit?"

"Let" her? She was thirty years old. If a person like this wants to continue doing what they're doing, they'll find a way. It wasn't up to anyone but her.

I agree, my point is that the “family” blames Coca Cola and ignores who is really to blame, but then a thirty year old mother of eight obviously had some self control issues.

Eight kids and she lived with “her partner”?!

Harris’ partner, Chris Hodgkinson, testified that Harris drank between 8 and 10 liters (2.1 and 2.6 gallons) of regular Coke every day.

“The first thing she would do in the morning was to have a drink of Coke beside her bed and the last thing she would do at night was have a drink of Coke,” Hodgkinson said in a deposition. “She was addicted to Coke.”

Hodgkinson also said Harris ate little and smoked about 30 cigarettes a day. In the months before her death, he said, Harris experienced blood pressure problems and lacked energy.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Lisa Te Morenga, a nutritionist at the University of Otago, said excessive consumption of any type of liquid in a cool climate would be likely to play havoc with the body’s natural systems and balance.

I could count the number of glasses of pop I’ve had since 2010 on my fingers.

What's 'pop?'

Could be worse, oldtimers in some parts of New England call it “tonic.”

Reminds me of the old joke about the temperence lecturer. Putting a worm in a bottle of water, he pointed out to his audience that it stayed healthy and active. He next put a work in a bottle of whiskey, whereupon it promptly died. “And what does that prove?” he asked his audience. “Drink whiskey and you’ll never have worms!” was the response from the drunk in the back of the room. :-)

LOL!

And it proves ‘the drunk’, the wormless one, is the one who can think quickly, also!

BTW, do you know how to dry out the mouse? It’s hard to navigate around the web w/o it. :-)

LOL! Sure, use a blow dryer. It may or may not help, but it’ll keep you busy for a while. :-)

The deceased clearly didn’t know from moderation in any respect. 2.2 gallons of coca cola daily and 8 kids by age 30.
