This just gets it out of committee. Does not mean he will be confirmed.

He has the votes for confirmation. Remember, Democrats hold the Senate and none of them will vote against him. Republicans aren't likely to filibuster a President's cabinet choice either. Elections have consequences. We can't defeat any of Obama's nominees because we failed to win back the Senate in 2010/2012.

Inhofe doesn’t want Hagel at all and Graham is demanding answers on Benghazi.

Inhofe and Graham have stated that they will block confirmation of Hagel. There are many others. A fillibuster is a real possibility.

I vaguely remember a guy named John Bolton who Pres Bush tried to appoint as UN Ambassador. I guess only some elections have consequences.
