Posted on 02/11/2013 6:23:31 AM PST by kristinn
The Navy SEAL Team Six "shooter" who put two rounds into Osama bin Laden's forehead May 2, 2011, is jobless, struggling to pay basic bills and has been offered no protection from the retaliation he anticipates from al Qaeda, according to his first interview.
Only described as "the shooter" by Esquire, he also charges that the SEAL who recently wrote a book about the raid, celebrated in the new movie Zero Dark Thirty, wrongly took credit for killing the 9/11 mastermind. The shooter said that the other SEAL simply shot the corpse of bin Laden in the chest.
The long article in the upcoming magazine said that the shooter came forward to talk about the raid to bring attention to the lack of support offered by the Pentagon or administration for troops once they come home.

He should go to work for Mossad
Most ex-seals don’t remain unemployed long.
Absurd isn’t it.
A suicide mission, in other words.
Why should we believe any of this “interview”?
I am sure Blackwater or some other high end sequrity firm would hire him in an instant.
However, if he wants to run his mouth(unlikely), he could become a consultant for Fox News.
So 0’s administration threw him under the bus?
I am skeptical too. Seals get hired, as they should. They are amazing people, and there’s not a lot of amazing going around.
Welcome to Odungoworld
What!!??? Well, this is an injustice that must be immediately corrected! We must assure that this other Seal is ALSO unemployed as-soon-as-possible and denied protection from those who might seek retribution!
Nuthin' but the best for our boys! (/sarc)
“But the Shooter will discover soon enough that when he leaves after sixteen years in the Navy, his body filled with scar tissue, arthritis, tendonitis, eye damage, and blown disks, here is what he gets from his employer and a grateful nation: nothing. No pension, no health care, and no protection for himself or his family.”
Am going to raise the BS flag. Judging from his injuries incurred in service, he is eligible for disability payments and care from the VA. Also, why separate at 16 years? One more tour would have qualified him for a pension. Very curious.
I’m with you. Why believe this BS? Maybe the writer found a good way to discourage others to fight for their country.
Hold on, I thought OBAMA killed Osama.
The author does not say that "he" killed Obama.
It’s hard to believe what has become of our military. What should be public is kept secret and what should be secret is headlines. This problem is systemic at all levels.
Yes, it sounds like a bunch of hooey.
Reads as though Obama has had all the SEALS associated with the mission blackballed.
Says he is worried about his family’s safety.
I always believed, that the best way to stay safe and stay out of trouble was keep your piehole shut. I would think that SEALs had a code for this type thing.
Since he is effectively anonymous, I am suspicious since he offers no form of evidence.
Tips from expert of exposing fake Navy SEALs:
Weird article. I wonder what the author is trying to obfuscate?
1. No Easy Day author said that the point man shot Bin Laden. That he only shot a convulsing body afterwards. Is the author of the article lying on purpose?
2. The Navy SEAL is not alone, nor abandoned. The SEAL community is legendary for its assistance with time, cash, and job opportunities - and protection, if needed.
“...had all the SEALS associated with the mission blackballed.”
how many are still alive???
I’m sure there are loads do chicks ready to take their places on the teams.
McRaven says they’ll be stupendous.
He also could have gone through a med board to try to get retirement, even at 16 years if his injuries made him unfit service. Husband had 18 years and 6 months in, went through a med board for his injuries and was medically retired as he was no longer fit for service. The threshold is only 30% in order to receive retirement benefits, which includes tricare for the family. Hell, he could have claimed PTSD alone and would have a gotten a minimum of a 50% rating (albeit not a permanent one...those guys get put on the temporary disabled retired list and are re-evaled every 18 months I think) due to a class action lawsuit.
See, that’s the thing VA disability doesn’t cover the family. I don’t understand why he didn’t go for a med board or just hang out till he hit 20 and he would have gotten full benefits potentially through a med board or would have gotten them by waiting till he hit 20.
I love how they try to pull on the heart strings by talking about his pension. So why didn’t he stay in for 20? Did he get kicked out on a medical?
No help transitioning?
The opportunities on post to find a job, the resume writing classes, the jobs fairs, the counseling... There is a ton of help for getting an outside job. And a Seal? These guys are snatched up.
None of this passes the smell test.
Except for the lack of security. That part I believe.
VA disability doesn’t provide health care coverage for the family, that is.
That’s what I’m not getting...he had to know the deal.
The author does not say that “he” killed Obama.””
Exactly, I have the same book at home on the reading table.
If it was medical reasons, he would have gone through a med board. The threshold is 30% disabled to receive full retirement benefits. I know the disability rating math is crazy, but if he has all the injuries he’s claiming, he might have reached that 30%. Plus, like I said if he just claimed PTSD and that’s it, he would have been given a minimum rating of 50%.
Its hard to believe what has become of our military.””
Your ire is misplaced. The military is not the problem. The problem rests with Odinga and his henchman along with dozens of other demrats out to destroy it our military. Come on, fags in the showers with men, women in combat, restrictice rules of engagement, and the kenyan pig taking credit for what the military has done.
Why didn’t he stay in?
Some died in that weird helicopter accident, which has never been fully explained. I don't blame this guy for being afraid for his family. Obama has a lot of Muslim sympathizers in top cabinet posts and trying to get more installed.
Osama was gone long ago, this was nothing but a political stunt.
The guy who wrote the book did not tae credit and said he shot OBL in the chest while he was on the floor. Don’t know what this guy is talking about
Correct - i read the book too and this guy is not telling the truth or did not read the book
I broke my wrist and knee while on active duty, impairment ratings were part of the discharge process. In fact, they offered me an appeal to increase the rating as part of my discharge and appeared surprised that I didn’t persue it.
What ire? The military is no more or less than a component of the society that has produced it. Our society is not the same as it was 30 years ago and neither is our military. I do not want my children to join the military and I no longer trust the military on the whole. But I'm not angry at them.
Surely he must realize that the killing of bin laden was less about him dying as it was about re-election.
You make some very good points. I would also add, there are MANY service men and women who have served their country well, but for many other reasons choose to leave before receiving full retirement. We all understand that, and most of us made that decision on our own free will. This almost reads like some kind of Democratic talking point for government expansion of health and retirement care.
Maybe he ought to “come out of the closet” and run for political office. Seriously.
Remember “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” ??
“Liberty Valence” is a great movie with an incredible cast—Jimmy Stewart, Lee Marvin, The Duke (John Wayne). It’s also a wonderful love story.
Was he thrown out of the Navy, or just didn’t re-enlist? I need more information before I believe anything.
I would agree.
His whole story, is not on record.
