Team Romney started sliding their daggers into Palin’s back in late August and early September 2008, even trying to get her to back out as VP candidate so that Romney could step up. We now know that Kevin McFadden was one of the original Romney hit men, but later Nicolle Wallace, Steve Schmidt, Rove and other GOP-E minions began calling up their LSM buddies Mike Allen, Jonathan Martin, and Dave Weigel and really poured it on her. And on November 5, 2008, the day after McCain lost, a concerted GOP-E effort began to pin the entire blame on Palin, which Romney has (finally) now exploded with his weak performance this past election.

Correct, and concise.

Rove’s an idiot. Lying only works for Democrats, not RINOs.

When the RNC calls wanting money, I tell them only when they start trying to elect people with true conservative values.

My litmus test for conservatives may not be the same as others, but by conservative, I mean someone who upholds the Constitution and doesn't change his values according to the way the wind blows.

If they have most of my core values and I know where they stand on important issues, I might vote for them. I loved the way Guliani told off the Saudi’s after 9/11 and he's not exactly what one would call conservative, but I get the feeling he would uphold the Constitution. But this constant changing by the Republican elites to be Dem-lite just turns me off.

Ted Cruz is looking good. He seems to have a solid core so far.

“Rove has been the one who has single handedly help destroy the GOP.”

SO true. When someone is elected in the primary, he doesn't like he goes after them and ensures they lose. This happened with Christine O'Donnell. He went after her after she won the primary and basically said those that voted for her were nuts. He wasn't a gracious loser at all.

Maybe if he and the other Republican elites hadn't bashed her the way they did, she might have had a chance. We will never know. The same with Todd Akins. he said a stupid thing and apologized for it, but the Republican elites went after him tooth and nails. Dems don't eat their own, but Republicans do (if it is someone outside the Republican elitist circle).

There is a lot of complaining on this thread about the current state of the GOP, but how many here are actually willing to do something about it? The clock is ticking to November 2014.

Excellent points, thank you for your post. I look back at how Hannity had “The Architect” on every half hour it seems, and how he was almost a regular on Fox and Friends. We have to vote.with our unison voices now because it is the last vestige of freedom that we have...no more period. Dollars withheld will also be the rule.

The same goes true for how they treated Mourdock...remember how sour grapes Lugar (and his cronies) absolutely refused to endorse and support him, and this was before his big gaffe.

With the GOP-E, they always expect Conservatives to back moderate or liberal Republican primary winners, but when the tables are turned, they walk away in a snit and ensure defeat. The same ting happened with Castle and O'Donnell. O'Donnell could have conceivably won if the GOP-E had backed her like it should have and Rove and company had not attacked her. Instead, they just sat back and refused to help her.

And remember Joe Miller in Alaska? In the middle of his campaign, when he was ahead, the GOP-E sent former Huckabee staffers up to bulk up his campaign. What did they do? They shoved his grassroots people aside, and advised him to publicly dump the Palins from his bandwagon. In the meantime, the GOP-E provided significant party resources, money, and staff to sour grapes Lisa Murkowski. The end result? Miller lost, and Murkoski got to rub Sarah Palin's nose in it.

Some people around here need to go back and look at the old election threads from 2010 and remember what was going on then.

My main point is we should focus our energy on fighting the democrats. There is nothing realistically we can do to stop Rove from supporting his choice candidates. This is still a free country.

And this is exactly my point. The enemy right now is not the democrats, it's the republicans/GOPe. We might not be able to stop Rove but we can sure as shinola tell him where he can go! He's a big time rino supporter, regardless of what he's saying.

Nobody criticized you for not hating Rove. I don't "hate" Rove, either. Here's what you said, and what I criticized:

I never liked both Bush'es and I never liked Karl Rove. But I am astute enough to recognize Rove is not the real enemy. The real enemies are Obama-Reid-Pelosi-Clintons.

Of course, you were sure to say it in extra big blue letters. Calling yourself astute and drawing attention to your "astutution" (to coin a word) was bound to generate some ridicule. However, my criticism of you was for the substance of what you wrote. You said that Karl Rove is not the real enemy. I replied with a post making clear my belief that Karl Rove is indeed one of conservatism's enemies, and his enmity is sneakier, as well as potentially more harmful to the cause. You are welcome to disagree, but not to argue against things that have not been said.

I see the pattern, Rove does not like gov Palin. So what? I like gov Palin. Because I am a high information voter. I have observed her actions in AK and her speeches and her appearances on Fox News. But that is no reason for me to attack Rove. So long as he is supporting another REPUBLICAN, I am not going to form a circular firing squad.

President Reagan famously enunciated his 11th commandment “thous shall not speak ill of a fellow republican”. I follow that rule.

We should always have spirited primaries. That separates the weak from the strong. I am looking forward to 2016 primaries with a spirited contest between Marco Rubio & Rand Paul. It will be more interesting that between Mittens, Newt, Rick, Perry & Cain.

Only politicians who hurt my lifestyle are tax raisers, almost universally democrats. Even Bush-41 ran on “read my lips” but was stupidly gave in to democrat pressure to raise taxes. No other republican president has done that since I became a US citizen in 1970. If you are under 43 years age, you should defer to me, I have been a US citizen longer than you lol.
