fter smearing movement conservative icon Brent Bozell as a "hater" who has a "sordid history of hating Karl Rove," Jonathan Collegio of American Crossroads mocked a group of prominent conservatives who wrote a letter to Crossroads GPS President Steven Law demanding Collegio be fired.
Ive been trying to get my friends to sign it, because itll make for a funnier story once I get it framed, Collegio said, in response to the letter to the Washington Examiner. It would be flattering, if it werent so absurd.
In an interview with Breitbart News editor Larry O'Connor on WMAL's "Mornings on the Mall" radio show in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, Collegio said, "Bozell is a hater and he also has a long sordid history hating Karl Rove. He has weird personal axes to grind." Collegio was on the show to talk about the group's new super PAC, which many believe has declared war on the Tea Party.
He subsequently apologized for his remarks, but that apology was not enough for some of the conservative movement's most prominent leaders. Collegio also seemed to be taking a swipe at Mark Levin when he criticized conservatives who supported failed Delaware Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell in 2010. Collegio said those were the types of candidates his new organization is trying to prevent from winning the GOP nomination.
On behalf of the conservative movement, we are demanding you terminate Mr. Collegio," they wrote. An apology is not acceptable."

Why would this smart a** be hired by anyone who wanted to win future elections? Rove must be getting big bucks from Obama to sink the GOP.
As opposed to, what? Mike Castle and his liberal voting record?
We were told election cycle after election cycle to support the GOP primary winner, even it if was the RINO. But when the conservative beat the RINO in Delaware and other states, the knives came out. And the Tea Party candidates did better in 2012 than the GOP-E choices.
These idiots are displaying the liberal hallmark of believing the solution to failure is to do more of what is failing in hopes that it eventually works. Their belief system is more in-line with Democrats than conservatives. And the mask that they used to pretend otherwise has been stripped off.
O'Donnnell had flaws. But those could have been overcome if the GOP-E had tried to help her instead of joining the Dems and the MSM in beating her up.
I think the “Tokyo Rove” moniker is beginning to stick. I’ve seen it in several places recently.
Newsflash, Jonathan Collegio found in alleyway with a size 10 steeltoe boot lodged firmly in his person making sitting difficult.
Afterwards, Collegio walked stiffly in a tip toe gait while ranting that he showed them all.
He entered his vehicle and sat on a hiney donut before gingerly driving off.
These GOP elitists are living in their own little appeasing world apparently. They believe illegals and citizen hispanics will vote for GOP if we give illegals amnesty. Didn’t happen in 1986 aftermath and never will.
The word has gone out around the world. Come to America; it is ripe for the raping. Entitlements? No worries. We’ll (current illegals and other immigrants and sympathizers) walk you through all the motions of getting on the dole. We’ll get you a driver’s license (and register to vote, to boot), we’ll get you WICs, EITC (with a fake SS number), TANF, SNAP, Section 8 housing, and all the rest.
Hey! We’ll also show you the list of all those Christian Free Pantries you can hit up for groceries when your lottos don’t pay off and you’ve ATM’d the hell out of your EBT card....We’ll teach you EVERYTHING! In return? You only have to vote Democrat.
My heart isn’t in ‘Republican-anything” any more. I think I’m just gonna vote against them wherever I see a RINO that needs a lesson.....in the end, it’s the same outcome.
Pay attention people.
Oppose Rove.
Be civil and respectful, but Rove needs to go now.
He has done far to much damage already.
bu..bu...but....what about the “fact” that the GOP-E went to all the right schools, have all the right connections, and are oh-so-much smarter than the rest of us?
The American Spectator absolutely nailed it a couple of years ago and it’s worth passing along the link again. “America’s Ruling Class” explains Rove etc and a lot more:

Always with the Christine O’Donnell or Todd Akin bashing. Were they perfect candidates? No, but they won their primaries, deserved to be supported by Republicans of all stripes (conservative OR moderate), and were clearly much better than the Democrats who won. That’s my beef with moderate Republicans!
Romney, for example, was the squishiest of squishy Republicans, but a whole lot of conservatives still showed up at the polls to vote for a man they shared very little with. Why? Because it was better to support the party’s nominee than turn the election over to an avowed Marxist.
Now why in the world can’t those squishy moderates return the favor when one of our guys or gals win? Fight like crazy for your RINOs, but if you lose, show us the same courtesy that you ask from us! Support the nominee. Even if you hate them, suck it up until AFTER the election.
Would O’Donnell or Akin really have been worse than what was elected? Since the RINOs did everything in their power to destroy the O’Donnell and Akin campaigns after they were OUR nominees, I guess they thought so, and that says a bunch about the moderates.
Kapo Karl just wants the perks.
“Now why in the world cant those squishy moderates return the favor when one of our guys or gals win?”
Because the squishes HATE conservatives and agree with the liberals.
The squishes would rather see a liberal in office than a hated conservative.
I agree. I’ve had it with this fat RINO pig.
Rove and his lackeys think they are untouchable.
Agree 100%.
I think O’Donnell was a very strong candidate, and never agreed one single bit with the bashing.
She should run again. Maybe move some place more conservative first though. :D
dirtboy: “We were told election cycle after election cycle to support the GOP primary winner, even it if was the RINO.”
That’s actually very reasonable advice for people on the same team, but the moderates are in it for something else. I don’t know what, but it can’t be about winning elections. O’Donnell, for example, may have been destined for failure no matter what, but the GOPe piled on when it should have been helping her. I guess we don’t call them squishes for nothing, eh?
Things like this new Rove PAC makes me want to defeat the moderates almost as bad as I want to beat the Democrats, but you know what? I still vote for RINOs when they win nominations, because it’s better than letting the Democrats win. Well, maybe...
Moderate Republicans have repeatedly proven themselves to be both untrustworthy and dishonorable. Even when they’re beaten fairly, they try to undermine the result. They’re much like the left in that regard.
Karl has been licking on that D.C. creamsicle all his adult life. He's all in.
Darksheare: “The squishes would rather see a liberal in office than a hated conservative.”
I don’t think there can be any other conclusion. The squishes aren’t even good losers. Castle, Lugar, and all the rest acted like a bunch of sore losers. Honorable statesmen? Don’t make me laugh! I can think of far more appropriate terms for them, but the admin would delete my post.
That said, I would have voted for any of these “honorable statesmen” (LOL!) over the opposition, but I’ve gotta be honest. That’s getting much, much harder to do when they refuse to return the favor. (and, yeah. I’m still happy Castle went down in flames even if it lost us the seat!)
These two maybe weren't as intelligent or eloquent as a Ted Cruz, but I bet their voting records would have been almost identical to Cruz, and I would sure settle for that in most Senate races.
Maybe picking a fight is the only way to get conservatives to rise up and fight back?
During recent Rovian history, the eGOP almost won when Sarah Palin added some conservative enthusiasm to McLame's eGOP stink, then won big in 2010 with the TEA party rising up and then lost big when the TEA party stayed home.
Quite honestly, the eGOP has been getting its butt kicked consistently when it relies upon its progressive follower, appeasement/compromise ideology.
Amerika: Beware the two-horned lamb!
Is that you, Not Sure? Is it me?
But, but,... but...didn’t I hear Rove the other night “straightening us out” by telling us how much money he spent on reprobate candidates like O’Donnel and Aiken?...or was I just hearing things?
-——Would ODonnell or Akin really have been worse than what was elected? -——
That is not the point of the argument. Rove et al made the professional judgement they could not win the election. In Delaware that judgement was correct.
In Missouri, the water is so murky and support might have saved the day.
True, and don’t forget the “professional investment” they made.
Rove is trading on the status he derived from being a political insider and kingmaker to raise millions of dollars to support candidates through his superpac and like all investors, those who give him money want a return on that investment. Rove’s credibility is on the line here, this whole thing is completely transparent when you think about it and what’s important to him. “Follow the money” always works.
rove is a hired gun. There is a country clubber behind him financing this. Rove is just doing what he is paid to do.
O’donnell had flaws? Yes, while she is a conservative she is also a fruitcake. Castle is a RINO. So the pickings were pretty slim. I would have held my nose and supported her but see no reason to fault anyone who didn’t. We don’t want the conservative movement and the tea party associated with the likes of flakes like o’donnell. If we cant find better candidates than her then perhaps we don’t deserve the seat
These guys aren't stupid. They don't believe that crap anymore than you or I. They want to turn this country into another Mexico. Down there a very small elite controls everything and live like kings inside armed citadels while most the people are near peonage, living in abject poverty. The GOPe bosses want to break the middle-class here so they can loot and lord over the country at will. And they don't care if it ruins the country. The elite in North Korea or any African hellhole live the high life.
You'd think with the millions he's made, he'd invest a little time and money in a fitness center. He's the spittin' image of the Pillsbury Dough Boy.
It's one thing to not support her. It's another thing to join in the mugging by the MSM and the Dems, which Rove did. And perhaps O'Donnell was the only other choice precisely because she was the only one crazy enough to think she could defeat the entrenched household name candidate Mike Castle - just as Romney's frontrunner status (and widespread GOP_E support) in the 2012 cycle probably kept stronger opponents out of the primary.
Rove learned all the wrong lessons over the last few years. Bush's tenure ruined the GOP brand. The Tea Party is what gave the GOP power back in the House. Romney was an absolute bust against an extremely weakened incumbent. And the GOP-E House and Senate candidates fared worse than the Tea Party candidates in 2012.
There are labels for a political figure who believes the answer to failure is to do more of what has been failing in the hopes that it eventually works if you try hard enough.
Liberal. Idiot.
But I repeat myself.
LOL. I guess I’m finally starting to learn this is war, war against the mushy middle. They no longer deserve any conservative votes. Let ‘em appeal to the Democrats for votes. They have more in common with them anyway. After this last election, I’m ready for a third party! We lose anyway, so why not, eh?
Tokyo Rove’s legion strikes again. And we strike back.
Boy, there’s nothing like fighting the Marxist Dhimms head on while at the same time having to fight big government PseudoCons to your rear.
May the Lord see us through this sorry chapter in our nation’s history.
“His jest savors but a shallow wit.”
I agree. the better approach would be to stay out of it or quietly support o’donnell. Rove is an idiot Ànd a RINO. So his rejection was perhaps primarily based on her being a conservative. I have never challenged her conservative candidate. But we do need strong candidates that are not an embarrassment. We can do better. But Rove is the enemy within. He cant be trusted.
Someone who calls someone else a “hater” is identifying himself as a Liberal, not a “moderate.”
“Why would this smart a** be hired by anyone who wanted to win future elections?”
Rove is apparently copying democrats, this is the kind of people they hire, colligeo probably doesn’t have core beliefs, will do anything or anyone for money.
Because squishy moderates have no philosophy beyond, "well, okay, but please not so blatantly.' Their guiding light is sharing power with the perceived natural Rulers who are the left. They are much more comfortable with the Left than with conservatives, socially and politically. They believe that conservatives are illegitimate party crashers who should be hustled back out the door before they cause the establishment left to suspect that the moderate Republicans are somehow linked with those conservative philistine oafs.
People who call people “haters” are generally morons. And he is throwing a silly hissy fit which makes me think he’s gay. Has Rove switched?
Levin declared war against Rove a few nights ago, and it’s paying dividends. This pathetic cabal is now waddling out into the open.
Then there's Akin. Out of the three Tea Party candidates - thanks to money given to his campaign by the democrat incumbent - the weakest candidate won. Palin supported another candidate and after the moronic comment from Akin, even Hannity asked him to resign and told him he would loose if he continued with his campaign.
If conservatives are going to back a candidate, the candidate needs to be on the model of Cruz, not Christine. If Tea Party/Conservative supporters can't discern the difference -as in Akin's case, you get the nonentities like McCaskill that eventually won those races.
Are these self-proclaimed leaders of the Conservative movement actually calling Bozell a beloved and critically important player? Let's see who else we can over rate. 98% of American citizens never heard of him. A true Beltway Conservative.
Given the way conservative voters are hated by GOP insiders, is it any wonder why the GOP has not said a peep as Obama classifies conservatives as domestic terrorists.
The dems would never stand for liberal voters being classifed by the government as domestic terrorists even though most political violence comes out of the left.
Rove and all the advisors who have lost the last two elections have got to go. We don’t need two immoral socialist parties who hate Christianity, constitutional governance, ideals and freedoms.
I realize that I am very late getting in here, but I HAVE to respond to your post. Todd Akin would have made an EXCELLENT senator. Any cursory reading of his voting record as a congressman shows that his Conservative credentials were absolutely impeccable. He could not be bullied, bought, or bribed into voting against the Conservative principles we always insist we want but hardly ever get.
ROVE destroyed this man. And rove deserves to burn in hell for what he did to mortally wound our candidates which includes O’Donnell...AND Sarah Palin, BTW.
I will never forgive him for much of what he has done to take the GOP unto the sewer.
Its not just Rove
Ailes and FOX as well
And more....they have the exposure and money
We have the numbers
We have Mark Levi.
Rush and Hannity are muted
Collegio isn’t very collegial.
I think Rush has positioned himself over time as being for free trade. Has not moved to America first, so he stays where he is for now.
Rush I love you, but I would start moving toward American sourcing for things.
Just saying.
“The word has gone out around the world. Come to America; it is ripe for the raping. Entitlements? No worries. Well (current illegals and other immigrants and sympathizers) walk you through all the motions of getting on the dole. Well get you a drivers license (and register to vote, to boot), well get you WICs, EITC (with a fake SS number), TANF, SNAP, Section 8 housing, and all the rest.”
In the 1990s I first learned that there are books available in Asia describing how to game the American welfare system. I know of wealthy Asian immigrants, including Indians, who brought over their relatives and are tapping American taxpayers for their support and medical care. I know of Korean nationals who have their kids overstay their visitor visas and enroll them in high school courtesy of California taxpayers
No one in American politics has lifted a finger to stop these well entrenched abuses. Instead we have fools like Dubya and now Rubio trying to make the situation even worse with another Amnesty.
I still recall how the Treason Lobby tricked President Reagan into signing the 1986 Amnesty by promising that it would the only Amnesty in history, that they would make sure that illegal aliens would be sent packing. The scum were lying to us then, and they are lying to us now.
They commit the most horrible abuses of the golden cow, and then after years and years of continued abuse and excess, now wonder why they can no longer butcher the meat because none is left.
“Are these self-proclaimed leaders of the Conservative movement actually calling Bozell a beloved and critically important player? Let’s see who else we can over rate. 98% of American citizens never heard of him. A true Beltway Conservative. “
Brent Bozell III?
The president of Media Research Center?
The son of a founder of National Review?
The guy whose father was Bill Buckley’s brother in law?
He’s just not a publicity whore, and you’re a fool to dismiss him as “A true Beltway Conservative.”
And if they kill it they will just move on. It’s not their country after all, they are here because of what they can take.
